"Positive and helpful staff"
Angela was extremely helpful in assisting me with a last-minute room change and handled everything quickly and professionally. She’s always happy to help and brings a great energy to the front desk. Her positivity is a real lift when arriving after a long day on the road. Excellent customer service and a credit to the hotel.

"Not happy"
Unfortunately the corporate machine is taking a decent business and turning them into a faceless entity. The staff here are amazing and will do anything they are allowed !!!! To do to help you but the corporate morons think they know better but unfortunately they don’t

"Brilliant no frills hotel."
Usual Premier Inn standard, comfortable bed, clean, bathroom good, TV, kettle. Plenty of parking. Good access to M1 if touring, also easy to get to park and ride. Two adjacent rooms on ground floor as promised. Cannot fault staff. Reception manager exceptional, warm, friendly, helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Night reception also and other reception staff. Room cleaned when we asked, extra towels or tea bags etc, immediate response. Only downside: a small social area to sit with friends after dinner in adjacent Beefeater would have been good otherwise we’d go to one of our bedrooms to chat. Was a spare sofa bed and one chair.

"Fantastic staff"
I arrived stressed and upset due to my partner being unexpectedly admitted to hospital whilst visiting friends and family 300+ miles from home. Tracy in reception was so kind - above and beyond and I can't thank her enough. I asked for a ground floor room on arrival as I was now unexpectedly a nervous single older female & I felt safer being closer to staff. Not that there were any safety issues because there weren't - security is good here. My room number 10 was immaculate, the bed extremely comfortable and had everything I needed. I had breakfast in the Beefeater with a booked time slot which avoided any overcrowding. The young gentleman on duty was very kind on both days I was there. He wasn't even on duty on day 2 but came across to see how I was and wish me a safe journey home with my poorly partner. So kind. It was quiet, no queues and the food was excellent. I checked out next day because my partner was to be discharged from hospital to make the long journey home. Due to discharge delays and him being unwell the nurses suggested staying in Darlington overnight. Paul in reception accepted a verbal booking over the phone for me via the patient in the next bed, he agreed to finding me some fridge space in the office and allocated me room 10 again on the ground floor close to reception to help us. We arrived and Tracy was in reception again and was outstandingly helpful and kind. This is customer service at it's very best! I checked out early next day to try to beat the traffic a bit and Ant and Ryan were in reception when I went to collect my fridge goods. Both very helpful, friendly banter and kind. Vikki from housekeeping was also lovely and kind as were all Beefeater staff. Premier Inn these staff are a credit to you and all deserve "excellence in customer service" medals. Thank you all for helping me through this!
Now I must say to those complaining about hot nights - on booking via the Premier Inn official website it very clearly and visibly states that this hotel does not have air conditioning but an opening window which opens for ventilation. It doesn't open wide for child safety reasons. Do you really want a child falling out and getting seriously hurt or worse? This is the case with the older Premier Inns and I personally prefer the window opening option to noisy aircon. If you don't like it don't blame the Premier Inn and it's staff for your mistake in not reading the very clear and transparent information re: air con at the time off booking. The temperature device on the wall is not air con therefore was not broken or switched off. Try giving your head a wobble and opening your eyes to see if common sense awakens - ie. Shut excellent blackout curtains to keep sun out, open window if cooler outside only, bring a cool blanket with you for the bed. They provide good fans. How many of you have aircon at home???? Exactly - I thought not. Heatwave = hot. Premier Inn can't control natures heatwaves.
The Beefeater food is well cooked and has healthy options such as salad topped with grilled chicken although I admit a lot of popular pizza/ burger items, grills and classic pub food such as lasagne, steak pie etc. Ok it's not fine dining but it's good at what it does and the staff are kind, efficient and very accommodating. Anyone prefering Macdonalds - well each to there own but I feel sorry for you.
Thank you to all staff - you were brilliant and we will be back once my partner has his operation. Take care & best wishes to you all!
