"Well-situated hotel by the harbour."
The welcome from the reception staff was excellent - friendly, helpful and professional. However, it was clear that they were under a lot of pressure and that there weren't enough of them. There also seemed to be issues with supplies for the restaurant.

"They don't want your custom"
Staying at the moment. Wanted to book an extra night and was told to do it on line, cheaper apparently! Well it was not £177 for one night with no breakfast in a dingy room with no storage space, two tea bags and dusty skirting boards. Guess we will just check out and go home instead of staying over.
Very odd customer service.

"Very good service but hotel lacks enough staff for dining in evening"
We stayed twice at Premier Penzance six days apart in June 2026 and were fortunate enough (see further on) to dine there both times. The facilities were all high standard - room, bed, food, and I cannot fault the staff. However in the evenings, there were only 2 of them having to do everything (chef and reception) which meant that many people arriving to stay could not eat there and were turned away being told there was no room because all dining booked up. The reality was that the restaurant was continually half empty and those "bookings" did not turn up. I could see that the staff had been forced to say this because if they had let people in, they would not have had the resource to deal with them. At approx 8.45 they would change the notice to Restaurant Closed because of course they had to make out until then that it was possible to eat there.
My advice to anyone staying there is that until they sort out their staff shortages, if you want to eat there in the evening, book in advance. Hopefully you might then get lucky!

"Shortage of stock and staff, penny pinching, but brilliant service."
I stayed here because of the location and previous good experience staying at Premier Inns. I love the comfortable bed and overall good standard of accommodation. However i have noticed that the number of 'extra's' have gradually declined whilst prices have rocketed. For instance there are no tissues in the room ( I had to buy my own at a local chemist and only the cheapest Nescafe is provided on the courtesy 'tray'.
Also It would appear that staff numbers have been reduced, especially at ground floor level, but despite that, all those I met were brilliant and couldn't do enough to help
I should add that this is the first time I have written a poor review of a Premier Inn

"Computer says no"
Stopped her in the way to the Scilly Isles
The pluses were handy car park and easy exit from Penzance
Check in is STRICTLY at 3pm! Emma asked if we could at 2:50 … the computer said no
Even at what we thought was 3pm was actually 2:59 and 30 seconds but he acknowledged it would take 30 seconds to get to the right screen on on his computer so she could wait!
The same chap spoke to someone working in the kitchens and told him he was recruiting got the kitchens. It didn’t land well, but our little chap felt it okay to tell him he couldn’t do anything about who he chose.
Ultimately he is working in hospitality… which means he needs to be hospitable!
Premier Inns are not as cheap as they once were. Add in in rudeness and lack of hospitality and they will fail
