"Premier Inn up to its usual standard in most respects."
We take a 'staycation' every year as a family and chose Liskeard this year. Criteria: must have parking, air conditioning, restaurant and be within easy reach of the coast. Liskeard, as far as accommodation (with air-con) and parking, was up to the standard that has seen us use PI as our preferred hotel wherever we go. Hot bath and shower and good amenities in the room.
The restaurant experience was mixed. The usual menu (we had the meal deal) was a fraction of what it used to be (I'm unsure whether this was 'integrated dining' or the hotel drawing down on its offerings knowing that the main restaurant was closing soon). The burgers were about the only dish that were as good as always, the fish & chips seemed like what might have come from a budget supermarket in quantity, presentation and flavour. Fortunately, the breakfasts were, although cooked to order, rather than buffet style, were as good as ever. I'd have liked to see a hot chocolate machine next to the excellent coffee machine, though.
One of the things that has always impressed about PI, has been their care and attention to allergies in foods and this stay was no exception. There was a slight issue that they refused to accommodate though, as my wife has a severe allergy to citrus (the solution that has worked for us in other locations has been for us to attend at the opening of Breakfast (0630) and for citrus products be removed for the 20 minutes or so we were having breakfast. The manager chose to prioritise the comfort of whatever guests were present at that time (not many) over the safety of my wife and refused to remove any fruit. They explained that the rules on allergies were for food-bourn allergies only, not airborne ones. Thus my wife chose to take breakfast in our room. The systemic problem needs to be addressed at source, so I have contacted PI outlining this glitch in their protocols and requested an update to them.
This matter around allergy management and the manner it was (not) managed appropriately by the restaurant would be a deal-breaker to us returning there. However, to anyone without similar allergies, other than the shrunken main menu, PI Liskeard is an effective and pleasant inn, clean and with efficient, friendly staff.

"Cosy, comfortable and wonderful staff!"
Lovely clean hotel, great location, and the staff are so friendly, and really go above and beyond. Shout out to a lovely chap called Connor who removed an enormous spider from my room when I asked - a rather ridiculous request he was only too happy to accommodate! Would definitely stay here again.
