St. Neots (Colmworth Park) hotel

A really bad experience. Two nights with very little sleep as the bedrooms never fell below 27°c. The corridors were hotter still. The water from the cold tap was warm. Door and wardrobe handles were warm. Mattress topper was really warm (duvets had been removed by hotel staff so guests could sleep just under cotton cover) Windows don't open enough to get cool air in, even with the provided fan. The fan was better than nothing, but not enough to make much difference. The only cooled area was in the attached cookhouse and bar. At 6pm the bar staff told us they would close at 10pm, and we left to meet up with other family. When we went back at 9.10pm different bar staff said they had closed at 9pm and we had been misinformed! They turned people out of the bar as well as not letting us in, those people were not happy either. The only options were to go back to our individual baking hot rooms or hang around outside on the retail park that surrounds the hotel which was cooler. We will not risk booking a Premier Inn without aircon again if there is a chance of warm weather, so I guess we will be trying other hotel brands.

Room dirty rubbish over the floor, clearly the room had not been cleaned properly after previous occupants. Why aren’t rooms checked prior to occupancy? Coffee machine was broken in the restaurant, which is becoming a regular issue at all Premier Inn location. If they are no longer offering a selection of hot drinks why not take the machines away?

They need air-conditioning in this hotel. 29c recorded on thermostat. Our summers are getting hotter , I'd avoid Premier Inn in the summer from now on. It's a shame as I like Premier inn hotels generally. We contacted customer support , who promised to reply, and heard nothing since. Disappointed.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel, the staff are excellent from the reception who are the friendliest I have ever come across at a hotel and the cleaning staff who clean the rooms will do anything to make your stay perfect. The hotel is always clean and tidy and everyone goes beyond the call of duty to make your stay a memorable experience. They are also a very family friendly hotel and recommend any family to stay there, they have been fantastic with my daughter and she loved it there. A special mention for the manager Sarah who is always on site whether at reception, or organising and cleaning rooms with her staff, she is always there to help in any way she can and an absolute asset to the company and I can’t thank her and the staff enough for how welcome they made me feel every time I stayed there it’s like a home from home and that’s all down to the staff. All of them absolute gems.

Great customer service. Welcome at reception is always excellent. Will always stay at this hotel when working in the area.
