"Poor customer service, uncomfortably hot room, and broken promises"
We recently stayed at this hotel, and the experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish. We had originally booked a one-night stay with early check-in, but after making morning plans, we called in advance to extend our. We were told to rebook online to avoid being charged twice, and reassured that both nights would be linked so we wouldn't have to move rooms. On arrival, we were told the bookings weren’t linked, and we’d need to check out at noon and check back in at 3pm, moving rooms in between. When I tried to explain the situation, one member of reception staff tried to help by checking the system — only for a second, far ruder staff member to interrupt, stop him from helping, and insist there was nothing that could be done. He was completely dismissive and made no effort to resolve the issue. We had to cancel our plans the following morning. Then the following morning a different staff member looked at the same system and — within 30 seconds — confirmed we could stay in the same room all along. So the disruption we experienced were completely avoidable. To make things worse, the room was in very poor condition: -Stained carpets -Rusty, worn chrome in the bathroom -Mouldy tile grout -A shower that swung between freezing and scalding -And no meaningful ventilation — the window barely opened, and the room was unbearably hot. The corridor outside was cooler than the room itself. We’ve stayed in many hotels and never felt the need to leave a negative review — but this experience genuinely ruined a weekend we had looked forward to. Poor customer service, broken promises, and an uncomfortable, shabby room. Very disappointing and would not return.
      "Great location, good stay."
Great stay, all staff were welcoming and attentive despite a hiccup at reception because it was so busy with an event at the bowl next door. The bowl is ten minutes walk and this hotel has free parking so it’s brilliant for events. It DOES need some updating in the rooms. There is also no lift so if you have a drama with stairs I’d suggest booking an accessible room. The room was unbelievably warm and there’s no aircon, they had put decent fans in the room though and the heatwave was not their fault. Breakfast was great, good choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc through to the full English buffet. My only gripe was that the bacon was anaemic, barely cooked. I like mine really well done so this is just a personal choice. Breakfast staff including the chef were again welcoming and attentive. Would we return? Yes.
"Nice enough for a 1 night stay over"
If I could give this a 3 1/2 I would, its probably slightly better than a 3, but it is a little rough around the edges. Its set by nice lake and has a huge carpark, the carpark was easy enough to check into at check in, you just put your reg number in and you are good to go. The room whilst clean enough, is a little rough, the bathroom fan didnt work meaning the bathroom was damp all night, around the window had small damp patches as did the corner of the room. The room had no aircon, but did have a fan, however the fan was pointless, we could get the room below 23c, we didnt want to open the window as we was on the ground floor. Shower was decent, bed was comfy and Breakfast was lovely, it wasnt the hottest, but it is buffet style so I expect it not to be hot. Overall I think I would stay here again for a night if we was in the area, we paid £57 for 2 adults and 1 child for the room and breakfast, Cant really complain too much at that price
      "No room cleaning"
Disgusting, room not cleaned and only a tiny sign in reception saying you have to request a clean before midday! Ridiculous! Rooms boiling hot. Breakfast disappointing, cold food, poor choice, dirty crockery and plates. Will not be returning to this dilapidated place
      "100% satisfied"
Exceptionally comfortable clean and well maintained great breakfast and fabulous evening meal. Although very busy restaurant they fitted us in earlier than we booked and very responably priced for the quality of the steak we both had. Bar very close to the restaurant so self service was very easy as didn't want to use the app to order my meal.
