High Wycombe / Beaconsfield hotel

Booked in advance so room very cheap £38 for one night. Room ok, could with a few bits tidying up in the bathroom. Generally clean throughout . Although what appears to be dirty footmarks on the base of the bed Could have been cleaned off in minutes. Nice digital check in 🤔 no greeting by a human! Although I trust someone would be available behind the scenes if any problems were experienced in the process. Stayed he before and no real issues previously. Ok for the odd night at the right price of course. There are building works in progress so that may impact on the car parking space during busy periods. (Free WiFi is useless as usual! and HD Tv programs useless just freezes or disappears altogether. Normal non HD appears ok). Cannot comment on atmosphere, quiet during my arrival and quiet thus far.

The location of the hotel wasn’t too bad, but unfortunately, the overall experience was very disappointing. The room was not very clean, and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable. There were no flip-flops/slippers provided and no fridge in the room. I requested a cot for my baby, and although the cot was provided, there was no mattress with it. I honestly don’t understand how a baby is expected to sleep safely and comfortably without a proper mattress. The hotel was also extremely noisy. There was a lot of noise coming from the room above us, and the member of staff staying in the room next door was talking very loudly on the phone until around midnight. I could hear the entire conversation through the wall. This made it very difficult for my baby to sleep, especially with the additional noise coming from upstairs. There was also an extra door in our room which appeared to lead towards the neighbouring room, which made the room feel uncomfortable and lacking in privacy. The room was very hot, and we couldn’t even open the windows to get some fresh air. Overall, I have never experienced a hotel like this before. This was my first time staying at this hotel, and unfortunately, it will be my last. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially families travelling with a baby.

The hotel itself is fine The pub on the other hand is awful Staff drinking alcohol on shift and having mother’s meetings while ignoring the customers. I just don’t bother going here for food. The breakfast was freezing cold and again the staff had the music on full blast just ignoring any customers.

I recommend avoiding this hotel until they have finished the construction work that is currently taking place. Parking is severely restricted, and, when we returned to the hotel from an evening out, there was nowhere to park onsite or on the streets adjacent to the hotel, so we packed our bags and drove home

Despite the building work going on, parking was not a problem and I was not disturbed by it during my stay. The bed was comfortable and the WiFi was good. The staff in the restaurant were friendly and the meals were good. However....... The reception staff need more training or a different job, they were unhelpful and unfriendly. The hotel requires refurbishment and improved maintenance and is expensive given this shortfall. The first room that I was allocated was on the ground floor. It had no window fastener as it was broken off, so the window could not be securely fastened. The room I moved to was very dark as overgrown bushes covered the window. It was very hot as there is no AC, a fan was provided but had not been cleaned and was full of dust and fluff. There was an empty condom packet under the bed. Yuck. I have stayed here a number of times over the years and it is sad to see the decline. I will not be staying again.
