"Bates Motel vibes, but surprisingly, we survived."
Atmosphere & Arrival
The hotel resembles a run-down, slightly ominous 1970s school, and the pub next door feels like it's in on the whole eerie charade. Reception offered no relief from the tension: we were greeted by an immensely polite, proper lady—so impeccably well-mannered that it only heightened our suspicion we’d accidentally walked onto a horror film set.
The Room
Inside, the room was basic, worn, and peeling at every corner and edge. Visiting in August meant it was sweltering, leaving the provided desk fan to run on full pelt for the duration of our stay.
Breakfast
Having pre-booked breakfast, we gingerly made our way down the next morning (thrilled to have survived the night). The dining area felt remarkably like a school staff room, complete with a hatch-like cubbyhole where the food was served.
Verdict
Overall, the stay was adequate. The bed did its job, and we secured a decent night’s sleep, but we won't be risking another stay any time soon.

"Fab Stay"
We had an amazing 2 night stay! The room was great with the bonus of a little balcony. After seeing previous reviews on here about the rooms being dated and hot, I almost cancelled, but I'm so glad I didn't! The room was lovely and cool even tho it was 34c outside! The hotel is in lovely grounds if you have a little walk around and it's quirky but in a good way, we loved it's character!
The breakfast room is also a big bonus. The lady that was working in there was fantasticly friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious!
Id definitely return to this hotel and recommend to others.

"Good Hotel"
I was staying at the hotel solo because I was meeting family friends the following day. After a 3 hour drive, the car parking and check in was easy. The room was a typical Premier Inn room and had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable. I would stay at this hotel again.

"Outside Appearance Not Great - But Inside Usual Premier Inn Standard"
On arrival the driveway gave the appearance of a Lovely Building, but sadly it appeared a 2 Storey Old (possibly Post House Hotel) Unloved building in need of exterior attention.
But once your past the surprise of the exterior the inside provided what you'd expect from a Premier Inn Hotel.
When we stayed in August 2026 it was very hot & being a 2 Storey Flat Roofed Building even the fan provided made the top floor room very hot.
Overall worth the stay as was reasonable price.
