Reading South (Grazeley Green) hotel

Room was ok. Reasonable size but bathroom was very small, cramped and drains were smelly. You will struggle to get into the shower if you are above average size - gap between wall and shower screen is tiny! Car park is convenient but could be better lit at night. PI have really lost the business traveller - 'desk' is far too small to work at and chair is low and uncomfortable. Close to road but didn't have any traffic noise. Dinner and breakfast are at the pub next door - again badly lit at night. Didn't have dinner but breakfast was very poor. Rotten fruit in the bowl, coffee was from a percolator and was stewed - they charge you for a proper coffee. Pastries and bread are in direct sunlight so were dried up. Not recommended.

Don’t bother better hotels in Reading central needed a place to stay for 6 nights as our only bathroom at home is being re-done. To face such bad service with it being stressful enough and paying extra for premier plus room for the fridge to not work properly is not great. After first night we left early in the morning put tag on door for room clean and it was cleaned. Next morning we told reception at 6am about the fridge to have someone look at it during the 10hrs we were not in the room needless to say it was not fixed when we got back nor was our room even cleaned (again like the previous day tag was out and it WAS cleaned) not acceptable when the tag was put on door at 6am for room clean and we get back after 5pm to no clean room or towels. Guy on night duty dismissed my complaints and did not care the room was not cleaned (please note the first thing he asked was did you put the sign on your door…) we will come back to that. As the room was not cleaned the day before we asked reception can they make sure it gets cleaned this time (please note this person said sorry it was not cleaned but did not mention anything else) The next morning we left again early sign on door for clean) came back at 6pm sign still on door room not cleaned! Another person on reception said oh the sign is not enough you need to physically tell reception you want the room cleaned!! Ok so the guy on check in and who we made first complaint to did not say this, the apologetic lady didn’t say this either but the third person we complained to did why didn’t the others tell us? Lina quickly helped with changing the bins and towels for us then and there which was great but whats the point of the make up room sign!? I’m not waiting if there is a queue of people at reception just to say make my room up when the tag was put up. Never encountered this in any 3star hotel anywhere. When the room does get cleaned If occupancy is 2 people please ensure enough towels are given walking all the way back to reception just to get more towels is crazy. Tip for premier plus rooms (again as we were not told on check in) the premier plus WiFi code changes everyday so you need to ask reception for it to use it. I only found out as my code from the previous day said invalid. Even if this is a 3 star all of the above should be not be a complaint, if this particular premier inn differs tell people the hotel policies and procedures at check in then we know what to expect and not treat people like we are complaining for no reason when we were not told things. Please re-train your staff and better customer service is needed.

OK hotel, conveniently located, range of food at the adjacent eatery is poor unless you want pre-packaged meals. Rooms were OK, Car parking was easy.

Great little hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Well be staying here again when I'm next in the area
