Reading South (Reading Gateway, M4/J11) Hotel

Wish I could say I enjoyed my stay, but I didn't. 3 members of staff that worked in restaurant were very abrupt and quite rude. Trying to charge me for opting out of the burger bun and choosing healthy salad instead, no amount of explaining either by myself or even by one of the waitresses that you do not pay for salad if no bun. we just fell on very obstinate ears so I declined to pay for the salad and person took it off my bill as it should never have been there in the first place! Read the goddam menu you idiot! Another incident to note, I was first in the queue to wait for a table to sit in the restaurant when 2 waitresses (two different idiots), gave a menu to a chap who hadn't been queuing and sat him down while giving me the cold shoulder. When I questioned them, they both said he was first in the queue, to which I responded, if he was first in the goddamn queue he should have been in front of me, not behind! How rude! I will give a massive shout out for "Prince" what a charming, helpful and very amiable young man. My air-con kept on being switched off but a simple request to this chap and it was back on. Windows do not open - I hate staying in these Premier hotels! So, the night staff, with nothing better to do, kept on turning it either off or turning it on to very low! Pat yourselves on your backs, task achieved saving pennies for the Company and making guests wake up middle of the night clammy and claustrophobic! A bit of advice for you Prince, Get out of there! Would I stay here again? not if I can

Really good stay at this hotel

Adeline was as lovely as ever each time we visit . Always polite and helpful each visit . We love to visit and do a catch up and thoughtful for hubby birthday. We missed Maya hopefully see her another visit.

Checked in and was met with 'this is your room card, this is the parking code'. Nothing more. No welcome, no 'enjoy your stay', no 'the lift is just there'. Came down from room at 7.15 or so ordered a drink and asked for a table to eat. Was told that there was no availability even though the restaurant was clearly no more than a third full. Having eaten at a purveyor of Portuguese poultry, I returned just over an hour later. The restaurant was still no more than a third full. Why operate a restaurant if you cannot be bothered to serve customers?? Also, the noise of the shower from the next door room is hugely intrusive. Room clean enough as ever but the overall experience is poor.

Stayed in this Premier Inn many times before, the cleaning has gone downhill, the lifts need a good clean walls and mirror all smudge and dusty. Corridors skirting very dusty, in the bedroom the bathroom grout was mouldy and the bathroom door frame had coffee splatter. The walls could do with repainting especially in the bathroom as it is peeling away. Bed was comfortable this time. Normally have a warm welcome and some of the staff already recognises us from previous stays but this time was a different staff member no problem there but not very friendly, didn't feel welcome like previous occasions. For £80 a night I expected better cleaning standards.
