"Downhill in the last 2 years - wont be returning"
I have been a regular guest at this Premier Inn for several years. Initially, my experiences were consistently positive. However, I regret to say that my most recent visit has prompted me to reconsider future stays due to a number of significant issues.
Check-In Experience
The self check-in kiosks were non-functional. One screen indicated it was out of order, while the other appeared operational but failed to work. Upon inquiry, a staff member casually mentioned that the system had not worked "for about two years." Unfortunately, there were no staff members available to assist with check-in for approximately 10 minutes after my arrival.
Dining Services
A considerable portion of the menu was unavailable, despite it being advertised.
Several beverages, particularly cocktails, were not in stock.
At breakfast, the mushrooms and tomatoes had an artificial, chemical taste and were inedible.
Reception & Facilities
The reception area appeared outdated, with visibly dirty chairs and cushions.
Promotional materials were outdated, advertising events from 2024 well into mid-2025 on dates now well passed.
Room Condition
The carpet was poorly fitted and sagging, causing a trip hazard immediately upon entry.
The bathroom showed clear signs of inadequate cleaning, including hairs in the tub and stains in the toilet.
One towel provided for a 2 person stay?
In-room amenities were lacking: only out-of-date UHT milk was provided, and no caffeinated coffee was available.
No signage was available to indicate room servicing or do not disturb, resulting in no towel replacements during my week-long stay and a cleaner walking into my room whilst getting changed on the day she entered.
General Observations
There was a persistent damp smell in the room, and notably, there appeared to be bloodstains on one of the chairs.
When attempting to book a table at the on-site restaurant, I was informed it was “fully booked.” Upon further inquiry, staff admitted it was not actually full, but due to extreme understaffing—only two individuals managing reception, bar, and restaurant—no additional reservations could be accommodated - she appeared embarrassed and overworked.
The staff I did meet wee lovely and accommodating, however; you could see the management in this hotel need to be more observant - resourceful and look after the hardworking staff and stop trying to save money. In the long run it wont benefit as people just wont return.

"Dangerous exposed electricals, poor food and your feet stick to the restaurant floor! Stay away."
From the outside, this looks very lovely, but once your in-the quality of the hotel is poor, very in need of a refurb, one male lovely staff member trying his hardest to do everything, as he was alone.
Scuffed paintwork, scruffy carpet, marks on ceiling in corridors.
The room was very warm, it was only 17° outside but the room was very hot. The window does not open, no fresh air. The aircon unit's lowest setting is 19, but if it's on you won't sleep as it's too noisy. Hole in the room wall, dangerous exposed electrics which came out when we tried to unplug our item, a child could get their fingers into this which is extremely worrying.
Breakfast was poor, plates had a greasy layer, the floor was sticky, mushrooms were in an odd liquid, fried tomatoes tasted soapy, toast took an age to remotely cook. Had a horrid taste in my mouth ever since.
Couldn't wait to leave, hygiene and safety is not acceptable.

"Great Premier Inn in Newbury"
Here during the heatwave and the crisp linen, comfy bed and air conditioning made the stay all the better. Clean as always.
Breakfast was, as is the norm, superb.
Always stay here as it is quiet and has good car parking.

"Premier in name"
First visit to a Premier Inn in years and have to say Lenny was right about the beds, have to say usually staying in five star hotels rarely do we have a more comfy bed, however pillows were a little hard for our taste.
Staff at the hotel were superb, nothing was too much trouble and check in was silky smooth.
Room was a good size and spotlessly clean, however, I can’t put my finger on it, but there always feels like something is missing?
Breakfast for £8 will challenge any five star hotels on the continental choice.
Pay for parking as you leave, iPad to the left of front door, cost £3. Plentiful parking on site and shopping park a long walk or 2 minute drive from hotel.
Would not hesitate to use this hotel again.
