"Lacking the basics for an hotel."
Qr code didn't work so couldn't check in right away had to join the queue.
One of the lifts didn't work so had to wait to go to the 4th floor.
Got to our room and was disappointed with the appearance. Furnushings were quite old, carpet was so worn that I thought the patches were part of the pattern. One of the curtains was longer than the other. Window did not open and looked out onto a great pile of uncollected rubbish.
Lights and tv worked fine but the heating was off.
When I turned back the quilt in the morning, there was a big (blood?)stain on the undersheet. It looked like it had already been washed and hadn't come out. I also cut my finger trying to open the coffee strip so I got some blood on my pillowslip.
As for the bathroom, it too was well worn, hot water and towels were good but had a lot of trouble with condensation. The rand around the sink, underside, was filthy as was the outside of the small rubbish bin.7 The toilet did not flush properly.
No safe or phone in the room.
I tried for breakfast but was 5 minutes too late (we were still on continental time) so no breakfast. Sunday we went for dinner at 6pm, again no dinner, restaurant was closed.
I must add that the staff were very friendly, respectful and helpful. When I asked to get the sheets changed there was no problem.
The problem was the penny pinching and cost cutting by the owners. (Whitbread Brewery?). The price was cheap enough but even so it was very disappoining that the facilities were not ip to even a basic standard.
No I won't be back!

"A short stay, but a very sweet one"
I stayed at the Premier Inn in Luton recently and arrived at an awkward time in the evening, slightly nervous after reading some old cleanliness reviews from six months ago. I needn’t have worried—plot twist: the hotel was spotless. Consider me humbled.
While the building itself is a little tired in places (honestly, same), the price was more than reasonable, £195 for a 3 night stay for two in a twin/family room.
Everything was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. The staff at check-in were brilliant—efficient, welcoming, and clearly immune to the chaos of late-night arrivals like mine. Huge shout-out to Manda and Kelsey, who were absolute stars—friendly, helpful, fun and genuinely lovely humans.
Breakfast was excellent too—fresh, tasty, good selection and dangerously easy to go back for seconds (for research purposes only, obviously).
The hotel sits beside a busy road on the edge of town, so I fully expected a night soundtrack of roaring engines. Instead, it was surprisingly peaceful and I slept like a champ.
Sadly, I had to cut my trip short very late tonight, which was disappointing—but Manda’s genuine concern and kindness almost made me feel better about leaving (almost).
All in all: clean rooms, great food, fantastic staff, and far quieter than expected. I’d happily stay again—hopefully for longer next time
