Luton South (M1, J9) hotel

The restaurant is awful, staff really inexperienced and struggling, the toilets and general cleanliness is very poor. Blinds damaged, stains on carpet really not a great experience. Empty boxes left on floor and packaging, cleaning signs resting up wall. The food was very average.

Room was clean and functional, bed was comfy - but the place is looking tired and there is a sense of corporate cost-cutting. It no longer feels "Premier" - and it feels like they have stopped trying. Only one towel when the room was booked for 2 adults. Only enough tea & milk for one brew. It's not the Premier Inn of old that I remember. Good enough for a quick stop-over on a long journey, but not enough to bring me back.

The staff here need to be commended for having to work at this hotel. Whilst understanding it is a budget Hotel, it needs a serious overhaul if it wants to keep in business. The staff were friendly, cheery & super helpful with anything that you may need. (If able to provide it) There is plenty of parking available & an easy system to register your car upon arrival. The Hotel exterior looks a little Shabby & Old as does pretty much the rest of the Hotel. The rooms are OK, though there was mixed feedback on the mattresses of the 3 rooms we occupied for a 2 night stay. 2 said they were decent, but 1 had a very uncomfortable night with springs being the main issue. The bathrooms have no ventilation, so gets very steamy with a minimum 30 mins required to be able to use the mirror provided above the sink. Breakfast was OK, with a limited amount of Hot food available & no option for Hot chocolate, which we found unusual. Overall 4 out of 10, staff are great, but would not stay here again.

Our stay would have been fine, but road works right outside of hotel made it impossible to sleep. We would not have stopped if we would have known this.

Friendly reception staff. Rooms are very dated and not overly clean. The fan provided was thick with dust which blew around when switched on. The shower is a rainfall, with no smaller attachment- not ideal when you don’t want to get your hair wet or for small children. We stayed here as the one closer to the airport was full and we had a very early flight. Over all, it was ok for one night but it’s definitely not the standard of other Premier Inns we’ve used.
