Dunstable South A5 hotel

Check in was very easy using the self service system, and there were still members of staff available if needed. The staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and welcoming, so I cannot fault them. Unfortunately, the room itself was a real disappointment. I have stayed at Premier Inn before, including recently in one of their Plus rooms, so I know the standard Premier Inn is capable of. The difference at Dunstable was quite noticeable. The room simply did not feel as though it had been cleaned or maintained to an acceptable standard. The main bed had visibly stained sheets with numerous brown marks on them. The upholstered headboard had dust, fluff and debris along the top, and the ventilation grille was heavily coated in dust. The bathroom also needed considerably more attention, with staining in the basin, grime and discolouration around the shower screen, seals and runners, and a visibly dirty toiletries dispenser. These were not things I went searching for. They were obvious enough for me to notice during our stay, and I took photographs of the issues. It was particularly disappointing because we generally enjoy staying at Premier Inn and have had much better experiences elsewhere. The staff and straightforward check in were definite positives, but unfortunately the cleanliness and overall condition of the room at Dunstable fell well below the standard I have come to expect from Premier Inn.

Stay away from this place! Totally disgusting room. This is the worse premier inn we have ever stayed in. Despite the fact this place needs a total refurb, there is no excuse for discussing filthy rooms!! The toilet was so badly stained around the rim and seemed not to have been cleaned properly for a very long time. The mirrors were full of dust and streaks on them. The shower was also terribly dirty. All the shower tracks and corners were so very rusty and dirty. The smell in the bathroom was terrible. A very strong musty smell. The ceiling in the bathroom was stained with either pores of mold or an old leak from above. This standard of room is not acceptable at any price!! Even the curtain was hanging off the track due to broken track hooks missing. There was a sign on the air con unit saying hot air only. There was a small fan put in the room that was noisy and ineffective. The management and a site supervisor should be checking these kinds of things that the cleaners may or may not be reporting. And the cleanliness of the room is shocking, no excuses. There was just so many things wrong and this is not acceptable. I presume all rooms must be similar judging by the corridors as they were all filthy too and the area around the front door to the main building and reception was also disgusting. Do the staff not see this???? I’ve attached photos to prove everything I’ve mentioned.

I booked this hotel as me and my partner were attending a wedding nearby on the day. I also selected this particular hotel as the parking was free, unlike other hotels much nearer to the airport where you had to pay a hefty fee. We found the hotel fairly easily and had paid for early check in to be able to get ready which was smooth. Room iteself was clean, spacious for clothes and was a cool temperature too. It was a little tricky trying to find the hotel upon return as the road is completely unlit and no obvious signage from what we could see. The bed itself was very comfortable so no issues there.

When we arrived I booked a double room, we got a twin room upstairs. Which had two single beds. So I thought just put the beds together. The room was extremely hot at 29c and it was 14c outside. As we entered the room the fan was left on. The fan was very dusty that has been wiped in a long time. Dust then went on the bedding. Rubbish under the bed that wasn’t cleaned. Then the next morning as we didn’t sleep much and had to keep going outside to cool down. We make tea and coffee. We filled the kettle and what taste like chemical inside it made us feel sick. I then complaint and they change our room to a double bed room. With a tall standing fin that was blowing anything out. In the night the room got hot. Again rubbish under the bed and the room was extremely hot filthy. Not cleaned. The shower room was awful no cleanings at all. On got one towel in second room and they was 2 of us. Last year when we stayed it was nice hence why we booked again. For the price it wasn’t worth it this year. I won’t be come back again. Made me very tired and had 2 long days out tired. As for the restaurant next door they said they was closed at 8.45pm as we only wanted to get a drink and supposed to close at 9. They was sitting on the sofa not doing anything. Breakfast was not worth the money. Restaurant also filthy.

Room was a premier plus room had air con and has been recently refurbished but had a strange stale smell. Hotel is dirty looking with floors not been hoovered for some time. Outside areas not swept or cleaned. Pub next door for meals is really run down , floors grubby, walls dirty with food ,dirty fingerprints and badly painted areas, chairs badly stained and shiny looking. Staff were great food ok. Would not return
