Jersey St Helier (Charing Cross) hotel

Stayed here a couple of years ago so we knew what it was like. A quiet Premier Inn in a brilliant position, near the bus station and near many pubs and restaurants. We were upgraded to a Premier Plus room so we were really pleased. Only downside was that the hotel was understaffed but the staff on duty did their best to cope. Booked a meal deal which was good. Had to wait for a while for the food to be brought but we weren’t in any rush! Mario needs a mention as he was very patient with the guests even though he was doing a few jobs at the same time! Well done Mario.

Love the location of this hotel, main reason we stay here and the comfy bed. Check in was very cold from the usual bright welcome, think the guy was ill, coughing and spluttering whilst he checked us in. The standards have dropped considerably of this hotel from our previous stays. The cleanliness of the room was not good. The bathroom needs an update but I don't think it has had a proper clean with a cloth and detergent, there was soap grime and dust from previous guests and whilst we were there (4 nights) it wasn't cleaned. Although the breakfast was good, constant asking for top ups of the food, waiting for items, the toast machine was broken so a household 4 slot toaster was there for everyone to use, but it was useless, took 5 minutes to color your bread! with people queuing. They need more staff, the 2 that were there were severely under pressure, poor guy in the kitchen was stressed, he was even out clearing tables as there was only one other member of staff in the dining room. Shame on Premier inn reducing the staffing levels.

This hotel couldn’t be better located and, was excellent value. The staff were friendly and helpful and, the food we ate there was delicious. Surrounded by every Shop, Pub, Restaurant that you could need. Excellent, clean and spacious room. No ‘on site’ parking but, parking nearby. Saint Helier and Jersey are lovely.

Hotel has great position in town centre near shops and restaurants. We arrived and were met by gentleman on reception who was not very welcoming but checked us in after checking in online but wasn’t possible to do at hotel . We went down for food which was average but good service . when back in our room internet wasn’t premium as advertised waited until morning to get code from reception which we had to do every single day as it only lasted 24 hours. We asked for room freshen up as we were here 4 days clean towels and water but bins not emptied . It’s a nice location ok for one or two nights

The plus points The hotel is in a great location, plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs . A short walk to Liberty Square where you can get buses to all over the island . The Cons We booked a premier plus room , it was on the 4th floor and a corner room , the air conditioning did not work , which we reported, but after maintenance looked at it , it still didn't work , the weather was really hot when we was there , and the room was unbearable to be in , there was plenty of windows in the room but none of them could be opened to let in some fresh air . Around the fridge and under the desk was really dusty, don't think it had been cleaned around it for a while. The bathroom needed some repairs along the wall and skirting boards. The shower needed a good clean as lots of mould around it . We were there for 4 nights , but only given 2 tea bags so had to go to reception to get more , they don't get filled up in your room on a daily basis . More staff needed , there was a lovely lady called Annabella , who was so helpful and friendly, but she seemed to be everywhere , reception, clearing up the dining room , dealing with customers, but she done it with a smile . The day we left ,we had to leave at 6 30 am for the airport, went down to reception and asked if they could phone for a taxi to take us to the airport, the man who was leaning over a stand didn't even speak to me just pointed to a phone on the table which had a direct line to the taxi office, once we were ready to leave , the man didn't even acknowledge us , say goodbye, nothing .
