"Great stay with great staff"
The welcome was lovely and although self check in was not working it was ok as it gave us a chance to chat. All info given to us and off we went to our room. Double with shower room. The sleep was lovely with a really comfortable bed. It was quite warm overnight but that was ok. It was also really quiet. The next morning off to breakfast in the new bar/breakfast area (only opened a day). The lady who greeted us was so welcoming and lovely and explained what was available. There was another younger lady helping and she was just as nice. Food was great and as expected. The 4 stars given because you only get 1 towel for 2 adults, which is ridiculous, but other than that the friendliness of the staff outweighed any negative xx
"Not What We Would Have Expected From Premier Inn"
Deary deary me , Premier Inn you have really let yourself go on this one , we have stayed at many Premier Inn hotels in the past and each one has been brilliant , but not so this one , at 1st glance we thought that the building , especially the restaurant was derelict , the condition and appearance is just awful ,the interior of the restaurant is just terrible , the paintwork and furnishings are the left overs from BrewersFayre and has never been touched , even the breakfast plates still have the logo of BrewersFayre stamped on them , bad points , arrived for breakfast and was if I would like a boiled or poached egg for breakfast , went for the poached egg only for it to be brought out to me just as I was starting my cereal , hence , poached egg was cold and unedible by the time that I had went for my Scottish breakfast good points , apart from that the food we had was good including evening meals which we went for on their meal deal , drinks , would have been lovely to have had a pint of lager but not available as they had none , excuse , the delivery was late , hard to accept that excuse , after all we are talking about Premier Inn here , now onto the bedroom , a real timelapse back into the 80's , furniture really needs updating , also only one hand towel between two , was told at reception that that was Premier Inn policy and no cups for rinsing out your mouth in the bathroom , again was told that this is Premier Inn policy ," really" , good point ,bed was clean and the shower was very good , this is certainly not what we would expect from Premier Inn ,
"Excellent"
Excellent hotel, perfectly situated with great accessibility. Friendly professional staff, great nights sleep. Best bathroom, sturdy k
"Hotel good but evening meal poor"
The hotel itself was well up to the usual Premier Inn standards despite some renovation work, but the evening meal at the adjoining restaurant was poor both for quality and service. I stay there most years and it has always been OK in the past, but not so this year. The menu choices appeared designed for white van man and children and not touring couples, with no fish (e.g. salmon) or pies on offer. We ordered the chicken burgers but were served steak burgers and sent them back. Despite the restaurant not being busy it took 30-40 minutes for the chicken burgers to come, and the meal was dry and not particularly tasty. Apart from one woman the service was poor and one waitress (tall, young) seemed to be doing her best to avoid customers' attention. In fairness the breakfast next morning was fine, both food and service.
"Premier Inns usually good, but definitely not this one."
The breakfast was lukewarm most days. When we asked the cook to reheat our cold porridge, he did, but said to my fiancee "I hope it burns your mouth!" The room was quite dusty, and despite booking new towels every day, 3 times the room had not been attended to. I had a nose bleed on the duvet cover, so they just turned it over. The shower trap was blocked, so I had to remove and clean it. Room bin were not always emptied, despite being full. Stall seemed overworked and quite inexperienced. It seems that they did not want us speaking to a manager, and no manager appeared during the week we were there. The lift broke down, and the young receptionist did not know what to do. Again, no manager in site. We always stay at Premier Inn, as you know what you're getting, but this was the first really poor one. Good location, but never again.
