"Overpriced and underwhelming"
I stayed in the Premier Inn at Fort William for three nights in a family room at around 200 pounds per night. My first impressions were that it was close to an industrial area with a Morrisons, McDonald's and the Nevis Centre where there is bowling and soft play which is convenient. There is also a restaurant attached which is only for hotel guests and is no longer part of the chain restaurant Brewers Fayre, however it is still advertised on Google as such. The car park was a good size, with plenty of space for disabled and standard parking and it is free with registration on arrival. There was also always plenty of spaces despite it being August and very busy so guests returning for the end of the day will get a space.
The hotel entrance is quite small and dated and there is a sense of issues with the availability of staff. This is quite evident by the amount of people one member of staff is trying to help at one time. There were also times when no one was at reception and I ended up not being able to ask for my room to be cleaned one day as no one was there and I couldn't wait. In my experience of staying in a number of Premier Inns across Scotland and England this was the least modern and functional and the most overpriced for the standard of decor.
The room size was decent and standard bathroom with a bath and shower which is standard for other hotels in this chain. The corridors were clean and the hotel was quiet and we got a good sleep every night. The room was very humid but there was a fan, and again that's the same in every Premier Inn as the windows don't let in much air due to heath and safety. We got mixed weather with rain a couple of days, so it will be more uncomfortable in hot weather I would expect and there was no air conditioning unit in the room like other more modern hotels in this chain. There was a basic heater for colder months but we didn't use it of course as the room was incredibly hot and humid, especially after showering. As noted that is the same in every Premier Inn due to the lack of air. The fire alarm also went off twice one morning but no one from reception was available to give guidance on whether we should vacate the room and there was no note of a test when we arrived.
The biggest issue for us was the lack of availability of food. The restaurant was fully booked by 4ish on the Saturday and was closed Sunday and Monday. It was raining on Sunday and Monday and I had to go out to find places to eat. The lack of amenities was not reflected in the expensive cost of over 200 pounds a night. I stayed for breakfast which was okay and there was enough food available for our needs but the lack of food at night was the biggest problem with a young child who had an early bedtime. According to the receptionist it is due to a lack of staff in the restaurant and they seem to open the restaurant as and when staff are available, however this should be advertised better to potential guests, particularly those with children who may not be able to use local pubs and restaurants at night where it is mostly adults and very busy in summer.
Overall this hotel is overpriced for what is available and the fact that it is dated and poorly staffed. The staff look worn out and overworked and it is unlikely that I would return to Fort William as although a lovely place, the accommodation is overpriced and other Premier Inns in other areas (not Highlands) are charging a lot less for better amenities. There was always a queue at reception and this is the first Premier Inn I have had to ask for clean towels and bins to be changed every day which was strange. One day I was in a rush and couldn't wait for someone to return to reception so we didn't have the bins emptied and new towels which wasn't ideal. I wouldn't recommend and this hotel is fortunate in the lack of accommodation in the area and the amount of international tourists as if it this was in an urban environment in central Scotland it would struggle to get repeat customers in my opinion. I would recommend looking at other options in the area as the biggest issue is the price and the lack of customer service and food options. This is a 2 to basic 3 star hotel charging 4 star prices just because of the location which seems unfair when the amenities are not being offered to meet the charge of the room. It is also out of town and not too conventional without transport, particularly when the weather isn't great.

"Second visit and sadly still not good."
We visited this hotel as few years ago. Sadly things have not improved. We booked a plus room on a room only basis as the restraunt was rubbish last time. The room was nice and clean and modern. The plus rooms are on the first floor at the end. The room has a mini fridge and tea and coffee. The bathroom has a big walk in shower and shower gel and shampoo. You can tell where the plus rooms start and end by the state of the paintwork in the corridor. The corridor were not cleaned properly as I observed the same bit of rubbish on the carpet for 2 days. This was despite a member of staff hoovering the area. It is looking very tired now is the hotel and needs a refurb. The restaurant is apparently undergoing a refurbishment but I can't deny or confirm that as we avoided it. Im not a food snob but costs are being cut and that ends up with rubbish ingredients. I have found this the case in a few premier inns now. Rooms are not cleaned daily which I have no issues with. When I tried for a refresh on one day I gave up waiting at the reception after 10 minutes of pressing the help button. The parking is free for your duration but you have to put your car reg into a touch screen which wasn't working when we arrived!. It did start working about 30 mins later so hopefully I haven't got a parking fine when I get home!. My top tip for this place is book room only and a plus room and you won't be too disappointed. There are plenty of places to eat nearby.

"Very pleasant stay in Premier Inn in Fort William"
We stayed 4 days in Premier Inn (29 July-2 Aug 2025) and had a wonderful time. The location is superb - 2 min.-walk to the bus station; 3 min. to the train station; 1 min. to a major grocery store, 5 min. walk to High Street, a tourist area with all the restaurants, cafes, museums, gift stores, etc. The room in which we stayed is in the newly renovated wing of the hotel. It was big, clean, very well appointed, had great furniture and really cool lights, air conditioning, a mini fridge (very quiet). The view from the window was super nice. The reception staff were all amazing friendly people who would go out of their way to be of help. If I were to spend time in Fort William again, I would definitely stayed in this hotel. The Wi-Fi was a bit slow but that didn't bother me much since we were in Fort William for the outdoors and didn't need to watch films or play video games.

"Overnight stay"
We stay at Premier Inn a number of times throughout the year. We have never had any complaint until this visit. Last year this hotels restaurant was closed, this year we were told we could not book a table and were discouraged to going because there was only one chef and one waitress. The room was large and clean and as always had a comfortable bed and bedding. The heating wasn’t working and the tv remote had no batteries in. There were no drinking glasses. The breakfast was adequate. Although a little greasy and the mushrooms were really a bowl of what looked like uncooked mushrooms not even sliced. We had tried phoning the hotel the day previous but no reply. On leaving when we left our key there were two staff on reception who didn’t interrupt their conversation to acknowledge us.

"Unfortunately not up to today's standards"
The facility is worn, outdated, getting on in years, the room smelled unpleasant.
The staff is polite and friendly.
