"Short break in very hot weather!"
As usual, bed very comfy and facilities perfectly adequate except that, because it was an older building, there was no air con. This was a real issue, especially at night, as our stay coincided with one of the hottest weekends of the year. Sleeping was very difficult. Fans were issued but that wasn't really adequate. Nobody's fault and the staff were as helpful as could be, but perhaps some of the older buildings should undergo an update to include air con/better opening windows. I would hesitate to stay at this particular Inn again.
"Good hotel"
Typical Premier Inn, comfy and clean room. Large free car park and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Only negative was heat in room, it was like an oven, there was a fan but didn’t help much. There was a Morrisons nearby, a petrol station with M&S and a Greggs. Brewers Fayre on site, only ate there one night and meal was good with quick service, was quiet when we were in. Town centre is 30-40 minutes walk away, not an issue for us, it’s uphill on way back, we walked to station every day rather than use car. Apart from heat, no issues.
"Plus room"
Plus room very small . Otherwise a normal plus room . Clean. No lift to 1st floor. Long way to reception. Some plus rooms have no walk in shower. Reception helpful . Ask to park in disable slot at entrance if needed. Near Morrisons , Greggs and M & S.
"A very welcoming experience"
We had a really great stay here while attending a nearby wedding. We were able to check in early, and although there isn't air-conditioning at the site the team had put fans in the room, shut the curtains and opened the windows to keep things as cool as possible. Special mention to Jordan who was so accommodating and friendly with some excellent breakfast recommendations - he is a star!!
"The three degrees of nasty!"
The good points first .... let's be positive. Free parking and a friendly welcome, so far so good. Brewers Fayre next door clean, friendly staff and good servoce. Nice food breakfast and dinner. Tick. Ok, so here goes. My ground floor room (24) was right in the rear corner of the building, so a long hike from reception and west-facing so heats like an oven in the afternoon. Big laminated notice on the bed announcing that there's no aircon, and the window only opens a crack. Because of the heat, they've helpfully packed the duvet away under the bed and just left its cover on top. Ok so far. Just about. However, you then discover the wifi download speed is 1.1 Mbps which means no usable internet, and no connection whatsoever in the restaurant. Have a shower instead you say, but the shower-head won't adjust for height or angle so just squirts straight downwards. Paitwork in the bathroom is scuffed and tired. Finally, and best of all, when you wake up feeling chilly in the small hours and pull out the duvet, you find a lovely great brown urine patch right in the middle! Now we know why they hid it under the bed! Premier Inn, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Everyone else, AVOID!
