"Holystone"
Great stay excellent friendly staff used the dinner breakfast was really good value.comfy quiet room good dining facilities
"Good but not good for hot days!"
Good standard premier inn experience, comfy and clean, lovely reception staff but unfortunately we stayed on one of the hottest days of the year and the room had no air conditioning and due to the window barely opening, it was roasting and we did not sleep well - it reached 30 degrees on the thermostat and only increased overnight, even with the mechanical fan on.
"Great location, staff and value, badly let down by the restaurant."
Positives - Lovely staff, nice clean rooms, comfy bed, a lovely beer garden, lots of free parking and close to Whitley Bay without being nearly as expensive. Negatives - Food at the restaurant was really really poor, cooked in very old oil and neither well presented nor enjoyable. We mentioned this on leaving and they just said they'd mention it to the kitchen staff. Bedroom would have benefitted from aircon or a fan, heater on bedroom wall seemed dirty and rusty. .
"Great stay at Holystone"
Very friendly and efficient staff. Rooms always clean and tidy. Reception more than willing to help if any issues. Great parking. Pub on site serving breakfast, lunches and evening meals. Not rowdy. Great access to A19 and A1 if using a stopover or place to be based if visiting Newcastle. Stayed here many times before.
"A pleasant and comfortable weekend visit to Holystone"
The recent upgrades on beds made it a comfortable stay. It is good that PI have addressed the one issue which has let hotels down for decades. The bed was comfortable, and I no longer need to get a duvet to put under me to alleviate the hardness of the mattress. Bravo! Similarly, the alternative soft pillows were excellent. This PI had a shower only: again a sensible change of policy as the majority of people only use a shower nowadays. The room lighting was good also. Many rooms are too dark, but this one catered for a lower level of lighting along with brightness in the main part of the room with downlighters if necessary. Again, just right in my opinion. The food next door was perfectly adequate and the service at the restaurant and at the reception was friendly and efficient. All round, well done to Holystone Newcastle PI!
