"Not great ! Free parking costs £100."
Restaurant is too small for the number of rooms. Unless you want a Shell mean deal or Macdonald's for dinner, the nearest eating place is a 20 minute walk. Got caught out by the "free parking" not being free unless you enter your details on the tablet, behind you and not in plain view in reception. I saw this the next morning and informed the reception staff who assured me they would get this sorted. A month later I receive a £100 parking ticket from ParkMaven. Why does a hotel car park which his miles from anywhere need managed parking and why do the hotel staff not mention this at check-in? Unless this is sorted out in my favour - this will be the final time I give Premier inn any of our business!
"Great stay, super staff and very convenient"
Really lovely and unexpected stay. We often stay in Premier Inns as they are convenient and reasonably priced. However on this occasion we were met by Grant at reception. He was really helpful explaining the best time to get to Harry Potter and where to park. His local knowledge also helped with where to go for lunch. He made it very personable. The bedroom was what we expected but very clean and as always a very comfy bed. Breakfast was very good and quick which was helpful in leaving on time. It’s easy to find and the car park had plenty of space. I was concerned about the noise from the dual carriage way but I didn’t need to be, the room was perfectly quiet. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area again.
"Needed a night to stay last minute and let me have room"
Excellent service Excellent customer service would definitely come back good quality rooms all clean good breakfast all clean linens free parking as well not many hotels have this service for free
    "Below Average Stay"
I always choose Premier Inn when staying away from home, as it is reassuringly consistent and usually has everything you need. This hotel, however, was very disappointing, for a number of reasons. We chose to stay here to stay outside (but close enough) to London for a concert. On arrival. We drove past the rear of the hotel, and it looked dated and tired, and whilst the hotel inside looked alright in the main, our room wasn't well maintained. There is ample free parking at the front of the hotel, which was great, and a McDonald's immediately opposite, which was very welcome after a late night drive back from the city (beware though - it states on signage that it is a 24 hour restaurant, but only the drive thru is 24 hours). There is also a service station, which was also handy. We had checked in online prior to arriving, but there was nowhere to get a key, so we had to ring the bell several times to find a member of staff (to be fair, she was in the bathroom, but apart from a cleaner she was the only member of staff we could find anywhere, including in the bar/restaurant), despite it being early afternoon. We got the key and headed up to our room. This is where we had a few issues. One of the bedside lamps wasn't working at all, and the desk lamp switch popped inwards (see picture) when my wife pressed it, leading to her finger going through the hole and worrying near to the wires inside. Fortunately, she was fine. The bed was also small for a Premier Inn, as was TV, though none of these things were worth changing rooms for at this stage, as we needed to head out quickly and were only planning to be in the room overnight after the concert, but it was certainly below what we would expect. On a positive note, the room had a great view, and plenty of USB sockets. The main issue with the room was the bathroom tap, which sprayed water all over the room, and both of us, whenever we turned it on (I did record a video, but can't upload it)! We tried various ways of addressing this, but nothing worked, and we were soaked nearly every time. Breakfast, too, was average. It's always less enjoyable when you have to both prebook a breakfast time slot and order your Unlimited Breakfast rather than choosing for yourself, but it wasn't the biggest restaurant area. When the food arrived, it was mostly overcooked, despite being cooked to order, including hard poached eggs and over cooked hash browns. Again, nothing worth complaining about given we had to check out soon after and head home, but disappointing nonetheless. So, as noted, average overall. Nothing major, but enough to make the stay disappointing, especially at nearly £150, which is far more than I have paid for a night at other Premier Inns.
"Premier Inn Hemel Hempstead West - Very Poor Experience."
Beds were reasonable, but the fan/ventilation in the bathroom was not working so the room was consistently hot and the bathroom was filled with condensation. Service at Reception on Friday night was poor. Very slow, due to the Receptionist/Night Manager being the only person on duty after 9pm serving in the bar & restaurant as well as at Reception. When we twice rang the bell at Reception to attract attention, his pager went off in front of us because he'd left it on the desk, and we then had to go round into the kitchen where we could hear voices in order to find him! Breakfast service on Saturday and Sunday mornings was abysmal. Both days they managed to get 3 out of 5 of our breakfast orders wrong despite asking what we wanted to eat and writing it down in front of us to relay the order to the breakfast chef. I am a regular user of Premier Inn up and down the country and will not be staying at this hotel again by choice! A complaint has been made directly to Premier Inn.
