"Convenient Location, But Don’t Expect More Than the Basics"
If you want to be close to the train station, this hotel is perfectly located. However, don't expect anything beyond average—it served its purpose for a quick stay, but I wouldn’t stay more than one night. We had a king room that was cozy but showed signs of wear. A used cleaning rag was left in the shower, only two pillows were provided, and the toilet paper was as thin as RV paper. The room lacked basic amenities like a safe or a mini fridge, and the air conditioning unit was noisy—it sounded like a fish tank when running. I asked for extra pillows and was told I had to collect them myself; no staff assistance was available for that. We also paid for early check-in, which turned out to be a waste of money. When we arrived, three parties ahead of us were allowed to check in early without paying extra. The staff told them, “I won’t charge you,” as if it were a special favor. When I mentioned that I had paid for early check-in, I was told no refund was possible and that I was essentially paying to “guarantee” a room—despite others getting the same benefit for free. Bottom line: the room worked for a short stay, but between the lack of amenities, cleanliness concerns, and uneven service, I wouldn’t recommend it for more than a night.
"Recent stay"
We arrived to celebrate a new career path and were greeted by Rita who was very welcoming. We stayed 2 nights and on the first night after returning from dinner, we found a personal hand written note, along with some chocolate/biscuits to celebrate with us. We were very touched by this kind and thoughtful gesture. Thank you Rita for making our stay so special! This was our first stay in a hub premier inn and we had a larger room, which was plenty of space for two. The room was very clean. Comfortable bed. The tea/coffee/water available from the bar/lounge area was really helpful. Breakfast was good, the restaurant was very busy nevertheless the staff were friendly and helpful.
"Personal touches"
Rita, front of house manager, was very welcoming. She got to know us by name and where we had been travelling to. She even provided some complimentary treats for the room and a hand written note for the room! She definitely provided the personal touch which you don't expect in a central hub hotel where you are only staying a night on the way through London. We were also greeted very kindly by the receptionist who explained we were a bit early for check in but took our bags and made sure we knew we had complimentary tea and coffee whilst we waited. The bar man was also very friendly.
"Small, budget rooms with incredible innovation"
I had an amazing time at the King’s Cross Premier Inn Hub! What a bargain stay in a truly innovative hotel! As I was only really looking for a place to sleep for the night, the Hub seemed worth a go, and I was really surprised by how incredibly well space was used and the futuristic design of the rooms. I was a bit unnerved at first to see my room was two levels below the ground floor with no window, but in the end this didn’t really matter as, despite being a small room, it somehow felt very light and airy. The aircon worked brilliantly and could be controlled from a clever electronic panel on the headboard of the bed, which also controlled the lighting, as well as the traditional “do not disturb / please clean my room” sign, which illuminated on a panel outside the door when pressed. I was a bit nervous about being able to see to switch on the lights in the night, but the control panel jumped into life by just waving your hand in front of it. The space saving solutions were so clever, such as a pull out desk and under bed storage - a huge drawer and a pull out shelf large enough to store a decent sized suitcase. The shower was fabulous too, instantly warm, and the free WiFi was probably the best I’ve ever had in a Premier Inn. There’s no tea and coffee in the room, but there was a complimentary bottle of water, which I thought was a nice touch. The staff were also really nice and helpful. I will definitely stay here again in the future.
"If you can, stay at the normal premier inn up the street."
Stayed here as there were a lot of events on, and we couldn't get into the other premier inn we normally stay in. First impressions were good, the hotel looked on, however the staff were a bit rude, making snarky comments when their check-in process didn't work for early check-in (despite being charged for it in advance). I appreciate they probably tell 100 people a day, but there is no excuse for taking it out of the customer. The room was very small, but that was expected as it was cheaper. However, what wasn't expected was how poor the aircon was. It was 29-30c outside, so we expected to put the aircon to 18c (the lowest it went) and be quite comfortable. The room was like a sauna!!! Which left both of us unable to sleep and my husband waking up to a damp bed from sweat. Breakfast was OK, apart from no mugs and rude staff when asked. We asked someone to look at the aircon, were told they would, no evidence of that. The final straw was a nail hanging out of a trunk (used as a coffee table) which caught on my trousers and shredded them. Leaving me with nothing to wear for the event I was going too. The hotel said that someone would get in touch and offer some compensation, surprise, surprise, I've heard nothing. I'm sad to I was not the only one complaining about staff and aircon in the hotel whilst I was there.
