ZIP by Premier Inn Cardiff Hotel

Für eine Nacht in Cardiff haben wir uns das ZIP by Premier Inn ausgesucht. Das Hotel liegt in einem Industriegebiet am Stadtrand, auf dem Gelände eines Fitnesscenters. In direkter Umgebung gibt es nichts von touristischem Interesse, nur Fast Food und Geschäfte des täglichen Bedarfs. Mit Morrissons liegt ein Supermarkt in Laufweite. Die Busse in die Innenstadt fahren etwa alle 10 Minuten, man ist also schnell da. Der CheckIn verlief etwas betrüblich: Die Rezeptionistin informierte uns um 14:41 Uhr: CheckIn starts at 3pm, or it's a 10 pound early check in fee". Mir ist relativ unverständlich, warum man Zimmer nicht vergibt, wenn sie verfügbar sind - und dann auch noch nach 10 Pfund für 19 Minuten fragen ist.. sagen wir, unglücklich gewählt. Nach dem CheckIn funktionierte dann unsere Karte nicht, wir mussten nochmal zur Rezeption um sie neu beschreiben zu lassen - eigentlich hätte ich nach einer Rückerstattung für 4 Minuten fragen sollen, schliesslich standen WIR um 15 Uhr bereit. Das Zimmer im ZIP kam uns ähnlich groß vor wie das im HUB - aber nicht annähernd so klug aufgeteilt und geschnitten. Als Ablage gibt es nur ein Regalbrett oben über dem Bett, und ein Mini-Regal unten neben dem Bett. Steckdosen sind direkt am Bett vorhanden. Das Bad ist eine Plastikkabine, mit einer schlecht schließenden Glastür - entsprechend ist das Bad null schallgedämmt, alle Geräusche dort sind im Zimmer so klar zu hören, als stünde man mitten im Raum. Die Ablagefläche im Bad beträgt etwa zwei Handflächen - Klositz nicht eingerechnet. Das warme Wasser kommt jedoch recht stabil. Das WIFI ist stark gedrosselt, etwa 750 KBit bekommt man, ausserdem muss man die Anmeldung jedes mal neu bestätigen, wenn eine Verbindung aufgebaut word. Natürlich kann man Premium-WIFI kaufen, warum man im Jahr 2023 für ein paar MBit Geschwindigkeit noch extra bezahlen muss, erschloss sich uns nicht. Das Fenster nach draußen ist aus unverständlichen Gründen blickdicht, man kann also nicht raussschauen. Man kann es ausserdem nicht öffnen, ist also immer auf die Klimaanlage angewiesen. Die Klimaanlage lässt sich sehr feingranular einstellen, Wärme, Kälte, entfeuchten, Ventilation - auch komplett abschalten lässt sie sich. Der Raum wird durch einen Vorhang fast komplett dunkel. Von draußen hört man keine Geräusche, jedoch leise und dumpfen Körperschall aus den anderen Zimmern. Es gibt - untypisch für Premier Inn - keine netten Beleuchtungskonzepte, das Licht ist entweder an, oder aus. Das Zimmer war zwar sehr sauber, jedoch lassen die Möbel an verschiedenen Stellen die intensive Nutzung deutlich erkennen. Im Fazit: FÜR das ZIP by Premier Inn spricht eigentlich nur der extrem günstige Preis, und das Versprechen, dass man ein immerhin sehr sauberes Zimmer bekommt (was in dieser Kombination leider nicht üblich ist), aber alle anderen Aspekte, die man sonst bei Premier Inn schätzt, sind nicht gegeben. Insbesondere lässt es sich nicht mit HUB by Premier Inn vergleichen, dazwischen liegen Welten.

Buen servicio, habitación cómoda y limpia. Tiene por separado el water y la ducha, lo cual siempre es cómodo. Y parking gratuito. Además en la zona hay supermercados y restaurantes. Realmente repetiría si fuera con coche, sino el centro está lejos.

The location is a bit out of town but the value is excellent and it did everything required of it for my needs as an overnight stay. There was even a gift of a mocktail and Oreo wafers on the bed which I thought was a crowning touch. It is also quite snug like a ship's cabin, plus there is a raised couch that meant I didn't have to put my belongings on the floor.

Great hotel for the price made better by such wonderful staff. A guy on the front desk, I didn’t get his name (maybe drives a van as mentioned it) was so helpful, genuinely engaging and wanted to help. I felt it was run more like a family place rather than a chain which was lovely. Rooms were tiny, but that’s the whole concept they served a purpose for one night. I stayed with my son as we were visiting the area. The hotel is clean and tidy and has a bar serving food and drink. You can hear everything but ok for a night Attached is the David Lloyd so might be a good idea to get a day pass if down for the weekend. It’s about a 10 min walk to a big Morrisons and close to five guys, McDonalds and a few other places . We ate in the Thackeray pub 5 mins taxi ride but could walk. The food was great and my son loved the pie. It’s approx 10 mins from the centre so not too far. The price alone makes it a great place to be but maybe only for a weekend as a great basic hotel. Great stay and highly recommend.

I had a great experience at Zip. Heard all about Zippy, thanks to Michael. Both Ayesha and Kelvin were outstanding and really friendly, they’re a credit to the company. Polite, attentive and genuinely couldn’t do enough to make the stay worthwhile. What a fantastic little budget hotel, it’s a little bit out of the way but if you drive it’s perfect and right next to David Lloyd fitness, so if you want to work out (or perv 🤭)… you can easily.
