"Amazing food"
I didn't stay in the hotel, but had a meal with my friend. They are very accommodating when it comes to allergies/food intolerances. I had steak and chips and it was cooked to perfection, the best steak I've ever had cooked for me in a restaurant
"Usual good standard of room and service, good bar area, but wait to be served can be lenghty!"
Fairly new hotel in Swindon Town centre - one of the best bar and restaurant areas in any Premier inn I've stayed in, however, depending at what time you are at the bar, it could be a long wait - the check-in staff are also the barmen and waiter/waitresses and, of course, check-in ALWAYS takes priority, no matter how long you've been at the bar!! You're probably better served crossing the road to the Savoy! All the staff very friendly and helpful - rooms as per the usual standard. I was surprised at how inexpensive the stay was considering it was a Friday night. I do have to wonder who on earth would want to visit Swindon - yes, the designer outlet can be a good value day out, but the rest of the town, Fleet street at the bottom of town and theatre square area at the top of town are all boarded up. As a person brought up in Swindon and visiting family who still live there, I was rather ashamed at the state the local council(s) have let this decline over the years
"Overall an ok hotel, but some things could be improved"
What saved my evaluation from total slaughter of this hotel was largely the very pleasant service, front desk or reception staff, employees in the dining area and last but not least the very pleasant cleaning staff as well. The hotel also had a very good breakfast. Swindon was a pleasant town, but seemed to have its share of problems with the unemployed and poor due to jobs disappearing and being largely replaced by computers and machines. Although there were a number of beggars and drunks roaming around the town at all hours of the day, they also seemed pleasant and decent and I never felt unsafe even though I went for an evening walk a couple of nights. Swindon also had several pleasant pubs even though some of them had cut out food service completely or partially. These chain pubs had a very boring menu with a far too small and messy layout and a lot of unhealthy food and could serve green salad more often or as a matter of course with dishes on the menu unless you want to drop green salad with the dish. Short distance to the railway station and also a very pleasant and great railway museum right behind the railway station. There is a lot of dust in the hotel room, probably due to too weak or too bad dust filters in the air conditioner that may not be changed often enough. It should perhaps be possible to set a degree lower than 19 degrees in the hottest summer months and ensure that it is still running at least an hour after you leave the room. The refrigerator in the room was also turned off when I left the room, which was a bummer. Maybe automatically offer guests two cards so that the refrigerator and air conditioner work longer. Wall-to-wall carpet also creates and stores a lot of dust and should be avoided in hotels in my opinion. I know the English have wall-to-wall carpet on the brain, so I have tried to look through my fingers regarding that problem. (I have even experienced wall to wall carpet around the toilet and right next to the shower in the bathrooms in England?!!?) :o) LOL When you first choose to have a thick wall to wall carpet in a hotel room, this should be cleaned with a steam cleaner at least once a month and vacuumed daily. Free lending of smaller portable air purifiers that you can plug in right next to the bed or in a corner of the room could also be a good alternative to solve the dust problem temporarily or for those who suffer from allergies to dust etc. Using slightly lighter or warmer colors in the interior of the rooms is also a good idea. Installing soap dispensers on the wall in an otherwise somewhat narrow shower right where you need space to turn around was also completely idiotic. This should be located at the back or at the very end of the shower. I wonder which craftsman installed this, here it may seem like there was a lack of common sense when installing the soap dispenser. LOL
"Perfect"
Top notch in every way! Special mentions for Alison on her knowledge of all good things punk and ska, and Mel for patiently listening to our drunken ramblings at 1am!
"Stop off on way"
The area is terrible, looks like a 3rd world country, and I'm from Rochdale, but the hotel itself was nice. Check in was nice and easy. We were shown something to scan to pay for parking. Next morning though no one was at reception, I tried scanning the QR codes on my phone but nothing was happening, turns out I had to take the paper to the machine to be scanned, this should have been made more clear the night before. Rooms very comfy and breakfast nice
