"Well-located hotel"
Brilliantly located, efficiently run accommodation very close to the theatres and centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. Good air conditioning during the hot weather. Wifi a bit slow, so not suitable for work.

"Excellent location for the RSC"
Quiet, clean, comfortable. Lovely bed and bedding. Plentiful supply of power and charging sockets. Good customer service - the staff member at check-in very kindly found me a more accessible room when I discovered how many sets of stairs lay between reception and the room that had been assigned (notwithstanding the customer lift, this hotel is a bit of a maze!), given my age-related mobility issues. I wish the bathroom had more towel rails and hooks as it's hard to dry out used towels and bathmat without hanging them.

"A lovely overnight treat"
Lovely room and very good position, just outside the town centre. The only snag was a lengthy wait for our room to be ready. It was a very busy weekend and we think they are struggling to recruit turn around stff

"Foul-mouthed bully member of staff berating elderly customer"
The hotel facilities were fine, and the young man who checked us in was very helpful and kind.
However, my partner and I witnessed a shocking experience as we came downstairs for breakfast (24/06/26 at 9:30AM).
An elderly lady had injured her ankle after falling down a flight of stairs behind a poorly demarcated fire door. When she reported this, instead of expressing sympathy, the woman working at reception was horribly rude to the customer and immediately blamed her for her injury for ‘using the fire door’. The relevance of the trip hazard being behind a fire door, and a poorly labelled one at that, is entirely beyond me.
The employee then marched the elderly lady back to the fire door to investigate without even offering her ice for her injured ankle, and then proceeded to initiate a full scale shouting match with the customer in full display and earshot of the entire breakfast buffet.
She then stormed into the kitchen to launch into a profanity-infused rant about the customer to the kitchen staff. The customer was at this point tending to her injury and trying to fill out a report without assistance. The language that the employee used to describe the elderly customer was disgusting and hideous. Anyone who uses that language to describe a senior is clearly a repugnant individual who should be nowhere near a public facing role. This sweary rant continued for the entire time we were eating our breakfast and only paused briefly for us to pay for our meal.
The whole situation was approaching the extreme farce of a televised social experiment, and my partner and I were almost expecting a smartly-dressed television presenter to appear out of the kitchen with a film crew to shame us for not acting sooner.
The employee had her name tag upside down, which I’m sure was no coincidence, but I think management need to investigate this immediately and thoroughly, as it was genuinely one of the most shocking experiences I’ve ever experienced whilst staying at a hotel. It is a shame I didn’t get her name as I would have absolutely named and shamed her as a truly nasty bit of work.
Was a real shame as the location of the hotel was fantastic and our visit to wonderful Stratford was otherwise perfect.
Advice to those planning a visit: stay at the Waterways hotel in order to avoid being berated by a foul-mouthed member of staff before breakfast.
