Whitley Bay Hotel

Neues gutes Hotel in sehr guter Lage.

Lovely clean room. Fantastic view. Friendly staff. Had lovely breakfast in restaurant attached to hotel that is ran by the hotel (was previously a beefeater) Limited choice but very well done we enjoyed it, quality ingredients well cooked and presented. Will definitely stay again.

The rooms are still really good. But, what is going on with Premier Inn and their food? Lots of items missing off the menu and weirdly no lettuce?! Fortunately this one has a Rob. He approached what is obviously a chaotic situation with good humour and did his best. Whitbread, you are letting your staff down. This was the least chaotic I’ve been to since Whitbread changed the food offerings at Prems.

Warm welcome, good accessible wet room, comfortable beds, you know what you’re getting with Premier Inn. Location great for the playhouse, 3 mins walk. Parking on site (payable) or free at the playhouse. Crab and Waltzer pub over the road from hotel and Spanish city had a friendly, open mic night (Wednesday after the playhouse show) great musicians/singers and a lovely atmosphere. Thyme restaurant is transitioning from Beefeater so looks as if a bit more to do to get it up to standard. The breakfast was plentiful and good quality. Served by Rob who was very pleasant and the cooked breakfast was prepared to order by Donna, the chef, and well presented. Thank you, an enjoyable stay.

Plus : Convenient location for the coast, great breakfast selection and a warm welcome from attentive staff. Negative : Small dimly lit room, uncomfortable bed which was so high, you had to hop up to get onto it (I'm 5ft 9in so I don't envy shorter guests), no dedicated car park, (at the mercy of the private car parks in the area & their extortionate charges) and small bathroom with very basic amenities (a tp dispenser reminiscent of a nightclub. 1 sheet at a time) The room was worn, unloved and the grubby net curtain didn't cover the entire window. Wouldn't stay again.
