"One of the best premier inns we have stayed at"
From the moment we arrived & were greeted by the lovely Laura, to when we left after 3 nights we have no complaints. The foyer was clean & welcoming, the corridor leading to our room was clean & fresh smelling as was our room, this was probably the cleanest rooms we have stayed in. You would think they should all be clean, but unfortunately, this is not what we have found in other premier inns! The restaurant was busy, but Laura suggested we pre book a table. Not the biggest choice of food & the kitchen had run out of some items on the menu, but what we ordered was quick to arrive & was good and hot. Laura was on hand to serve us in the restaurant. All the staff are lovely & friendly, but unfortunately, I only got Laura's name but would like to mention the lovely girl who checked us in each morning for our breakfast, service with a smile! The breakfast was a typical premier inn self-service. As usual, the bacon was cold, but that's what we have come to expect. Having said that, everything else was warm to hot. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay.
"Staff Training Required."
Booked this hotel as it was near a birthday party venue for us. Booked because it advertises Free Parking. The outside of the hotel is awful, unkempt and soulless. On arrival we unloaded our luggage and checked in. Nice room, clean and spacious, you know what to expect from Premier. Got changed and went out to our party. Next morning had a nice breakfast in the dining area though it was a little small for the amount of guests and tables not cleared very quickly. No need to check out as no extras to pay so popped our cards in the slot and left. Just as well as no staff on reception anyway. A couple of weeks after returning home I got a £59 parking fine!!!!. Apparently it's only free parking if you register your car number at reception when checking in. No-one mentioned this at all to us when checking in, no-one asked if we even had a car......nothing. Very cross about this but when I tried to call the hotel I couldn't find a number that worked, eventually got customer services to transfer me directly to the hotel. The phone rang for literally 3 minutes (I was determined to hang on). A nice young man eventuall answered and told me that number wasn't manned and It was in a locked office!! I explained my situation and he appologised but said that the car park was managed by Horizon and nothing to do with them, and there were signs in the car park and at reception, so I told him we obviously hadn't seen them and no-one told us about it at check in. I asked to speak to the manager, "not there, can I have his name please ? no I'm not allowed to give it out and he's not often here anyway." What a way to run a business. I suggest that the manager spends more time there and conducts some staff training. Needless to say I have not contested the parking fine as Horizon are renowned for not listening. I would NOT recommend this Premier Inn at all.
"Lovely Stay at Pickering Premier Inn"
Lovely & clean Premier inn. Everywhere kept lovely & clean- bedrooms, corridors, kitchen, restaurant & reception area. Lovely restaurant and good menu. Lovely unlimited breakfast- couldn't ask for anything more for breakfast. Such a good selection. Dinner's are lovely too. Just book table in advance to avoid being disappointed with not being able to eat at Premier inn, as are very busy in evenings. Lovely friendly staff. Nothing too much trouble for them.
"Do not recommend"
I paid for a room of 4 and got a room for 3. I had to sleep on the floor as they would not help us. The bedding was dirty and inside the bed was thick of hair. I could not get in the restaurant to eat. No where local to go on foot. But when we did find some where to try to eat out we were made uncomfortable. And left. Pickering is a in a whole did not seem to be inviting. So myself and my children had to order a pizza in.
"Perfect weekend stay"
We were a group of 6 friends staying for three nights and had a really lovely experience at Pickering Premier inn. Rooms clean and welcoming and staff could not have been more helpful Really impressed to be provided with a list of local restaurants and takeaways and to be made welcome to eat our takeaway in the bar area with cutlery and condiments provided. The Indian restaurant in the town recommended was absolutely first class as was a pub on the Whitby Road. Breakfast was excellent and we were encouraged to sit and take as long as we wanted In a perfect world there would have been a couple more staff on duty particularly in the evenings but not once did I hear or see any member staff complaining as they quickly moved from restaurant, to bar, to reception and in the morning room cleaning. Fantastic team work I’ve stayed in lots of Premier Inns over the years and Pickering easily the best by far. Well done
