"Very disappointing"
Booked for an overnight stay in a plus room 224. Had also booked an evening meal as the local Italian was closed. Restaurant is small and the server gave us the information that no fries of and sort were unavailable which is quite bizarre to say the least so it was two burgers without but no discount applied! The room was ok but the bathroom was and is the grubbiest we have ever seen in a plus room. The heating was also broken as there was a free standing heater in the room. This is not what we expect at all!

DO NOT GO PREMIER PLUS!
Rooms was appalling for the price paid, nothing cleaned, run down amd the staff was non existent!

"Give this location a miss"
Hotel tired needs TLC.
Breakfast disappointing came down at 9.00am restaurant tables not cleared of dirty food dishes was told they had been busy and had delivery.Cooked food OK but no fruit or yogurt fruit still frozen Tea and bench dirty splashed stains not hygienic. Been to many Premier Inn but not experienced this before.
Ladder in upstairs hallway to loft area if you were big you wouldn't have got through no sign of anyone .......health and safety

"Great staff tired hotel"
Staff did there best in the circumstances, and very helpful and friendly.
hotel itself very tired and in need of a lot of TLC,
someone didn't order enough towels for Easter weekend so ran out

"Gods own countrys shame! Low rent russian gulag in the guise of a hotel."
Information upfront: We have stayed here a fair few times over the last several years. We were aware that it was slipping in quality and hygiene but the location just makes it worth the hastle. The current management is a disgrace and I have put in a formal complaint with Harrogate council as well as Premier Inn.
Location:
As a location it is very convienent and accessible. being both next to the train stop (aprox 100 meters or so up the road) and ample free parking.
Atmosphere:
None existant. We saw in our four day trip 3 members of staff. and one of those was clearly sleeping in the back room.
Rooms:
Well where to start: check the photos? These are honest to goodness photos of the room they provided. Their premier plus rooms i believe they are called.
The Floors were so putrid that we went and purchased thick socks to throw away later. We had already arranged to meet up with friends from this location so we couldnt really change locations last minute so were forced to stay for our own and others convienience.
The photo of the shower plug hole is AFTER i had gone to buy some cleaning wipes to clean the shower so my wife could shower without having the thing flood and to get rid of the terrible smell. I was tempted to post the photo of what it was like before but this illustrates the state well enough. Two hand fulls of random hair built up, at a guess over several months. Just to reiterate the carpets were nothing short of a health hazard. Be wary staying in this room. Room 220.
Restaurant:
The single server was a joy to talk to in so far as she was running the show as well as making the deserts. One person doing all that it was understandable that things were slower. The food was typical grub for a hotel and acceptable if forgettable.
TV:
For the four days we stopped the TV never worked for more than 10seconds without breaking up to the point it froze for 30secs before either blacking out and the remote stopped working or its repeated this pattern. The staff knew about it as many guests had complained but could do no more.
Staff:
The asian guy on the front desk at night simply told us he didnt want to deal with any of it and we should speak to management on the Monday (when we were due to leave). The eastern european guy mid afternoon on the saturday gave such a short answer its not worth repeating. The lady on the morning we left... hid. From all the guests. It was comical.
I get it, these staff members are not on great wages. Its' a Premier Inn and not a 5 star hotel. But the basics matter. Clean rooms, friendly staff, working services that are standard (TV!). Things wont get better until management are forced to confront these issues.
