Andover Hotel

Das Premier Inn in Andover kann ich auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Das Zimmer und auch das Bad war sehr modern eingerichtet, alles war ordentlich und sauber. Wir hatten zwar ein Zimmer zur Straße hin, aber wenn man das Fenster geschlossen hält, hört man vom Straßenlärm im Prinzip nichts. Im angrenzenden Restaurant kann man gut zu relativ günstigen Preisen essen und frühstücken.

Für Geschäftsreisende in Andover gibt es wenige Hotels zur Auswahl. Das Premier Inn ist ein neueres Hotel. Erst kürzlich wurde ein zusätzlicher Anbau fertig gestellt. Ich habe in dem Anbau übernachtet, der sich nicht vom übrigen Hotel unterscheidet. Das Hotel ist sehr einfach gehalten. Schon am Empfang gibt es nur das Nötigste. Die Zimmer sind für englische Verhältnisse fast groß. Einfach, bis spärlich eingerichtet. Es gibt einen Sessel, ein Bett und einen Wandschreibtisch mit Stuhl. Internet kostet extra. (10 GBP pro Tag, nenne ich happig heutzutage). Selbst im Bad gibt es nur das Nötigste. Also keine Body Lotion oder extra Shampoo. Für Frühstück, muss man in das angrenzende Pub gehen. Das Frühstück kann beim einchecken gebucht werden. Ich empfehle nur das Continental Frühstück zu nehmen. Der Mehrpreis für das Gourmet (Englische) Frühstück lohnt sich für Festlandseuropäer nicht; außer man möchte weiche, englische Würstchen haben. Das Zimmer ist sehr sauber und man bekommt auch täglich frische Handtücher... wenn diese in der Badewanne platziert werden und nicht davor auf dem Fußboden... Zu bedenken ist, dass es keine Klimaanlage gibt. Normalerweise ist das in England kein Problem, wenn es aber doch mal warm wird, dann helfen die Fenster nicht, da diese nur einen Spalt geöffnet werden können.

Booked 2 rooms last Friday - check in was fine, bar was ok but room 16 had not been cleaned properly as I found a piece of dried pork sausage on the floor. Room 120 smelled of smoke. Totally unsatisfactory response to my complaint from some call centre in Calcutta. Use the Travelodge if staying nearby

We have stayed at many Premier Inns over the years and there has been a common theme of being under staffed. Andover was no exception, but Aevan and Jess provided a great level of service and were very cheerful despite the circumstances. Had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the breakfasts and evening meal, which were good value with the meal deals.

We booked a Premier Plus room which was nice and modern however, our room was at the back of the hotel very near to the air conditioning units which were constantly switching on and off and were extremely noisy. We moved 3 rooms away from them and it was still as noisy, if not worse, as due to the position and orientation of the building the noise seemed to echo into the corner of the building into our room. We had to leave the small window open due to it being so hot inside. Unfortunately the coffee maker had not been cleaned as there was water left in the reservoir and coffee stains on the front so didn't use that. The room and bathroom itself was clean. We had the meal deal but once again we were very disappointed. The evening menu isn't very good and seemed to be aimed more to Asian food now and the fried eggs at breakfast were baked hard.
