Gloucester (Barnwood) Hotel

Really good experience from the start. Staff were friendly and informative as we arrived early but weren't ignored, room was clean fresh and all the toiletries topped up. Breakfast was great, Chef Craig and his helper (didn't get name sorry) were polite and welcoming which is a nice touch Keep up the good work!

I thought I would start with the breakfast then write a full review once our stay is over. The first thing and for me the main point of this review is the service, from a 10 second wait to be seated to the quality food and service with a smile from the chef. The hostess Amelia was professional, attentive and caring and nothing seemed to be any trouble. A credit to the business. Now Craig the chef was a delight, pleasant, willing to step in when needed to seat customers when Amelia was busy, approachable and a great cook. Also his banter with customers was second to none. All in all one of the best services I have come across within a premier inn or anywhere really. Exactly what you need to start your day, the pair are a dream team and should be acknowledged for being so. The food, the food was enough choice to not be spoilt but enough to suit everyone. The cooked food was delicious and the eggs my wife had were cooked to perfection from fresh. The continental was good and the juices were lovely and cool. All round 5 star experience. Also again, I cannot emphasise enough the care, professionalism, down to earth, friendliness we were greeted with by Craig and Amelia. So thank you to them both for a good first breakfast.

To be honest we have stayed here three times before, I now feel that the bathrooms are looking a bit dated, that said they were clean and functional. Beds comfy enough, I noticed the road noise a lot more than usual, not sure why. Good location for our friends house, nothing else in the immediate vicinity other than industrial units. Did not try breakfast, so can’t comment. Friendly staff and check in experience. Nice pub next door. Would we stay again? Yes due to the close proximity to our friends house Would ask for rooms on the car park side next time.

Had a one night stop off at Barnwood. Overall a very good experience. Special mention must go to the breakfast chef, Craig. It was the best premier inn breakfast I've ever had. His assistant was very helpful too.
