St. Austell Hotel

Visited St Austell premier inn, on arrival I asked for a ground floor room, within a few minutes the receptionists Jill and Lilly had sorted it for me, very helpful, made my stay more pleasurable not having to walk up any stairs

Due to Corporate greed the adjoining pub was closed which altered best laid plans during our stay. Avoid PI's and their corporate greed of changing pubs into more hotel rooms when not required! The ground floor rooms are really noisy from the rooms above, also.

We're leading a LEJOG cycling trip and St Austell was our first night stop. Erin checked us in with superb, courteous and professional care and attention - thank you Erin from Pedal Nation.

Very nice stay in a very clean and tidy room. We requested a ground floor room because of mobility issues and we were allocated the perfect room which included a walk in shower. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Only downside was the room was very hot but at least a fan was provided. Early morning traffic noise meant closing the window. Maybe time for this hotel which is always busy to invest in air conditioning? Reasonable value for its location which is handily placed for local seaside villages such as Mevagissey and Charlestown. We will be back.

Hotel is in a decent location but all in all very tired and run down. Staff were all friendly and check in was quick and efficient. My room smelt like it hadn’t been stayed in for a long time and had a pretty horrible smell coming from the drains in the bathroom. The rooms were also very warm as there’s no air con. A fan had been provided which was helpful. A lot of maintenance going on in the hotel (strange when this is surely still classed as peak season) which unfortunately led to a 45 minute power cut at one point which hadn’t been communicated. I unfortunately checked out early the following day due to maintenance workers being in the room next door from approximately 9:45 am. A lot of drilling and hammering going on which again wasn’t communicated. Not sure why they chose to do work at that time in the morning knowing people were probably still asleep/ just waking up. The pub next door was nice, however was in the process of closing to the public. The staff all seemed very disheartened and upset, having to say goodbye to regular customers. All in all, wouldn’t stay again due to overall poor experience.
