London Christmas Market

Southbank Centre Winter Festival

Returning for another year is the Southbank Centre Winter Festival for a variety of Thames-side festivities. For starters there is the famous Christmas market complete with 50 snow topped wooden chalets selling everything from sheepskin rugs, door wreaths and handmade gifts to gingerbread and mac n cheese. If that’s not enough, there’ll also be seasonal shows such as circus acts and musicals as well as a roller disco for all the family. Little ones can meet Santa at the ‘Secret Village of Santa Claus’.

If you fancy a hot cider or tasty Swedish food, be sure to pull up a pew at the Scandi-style pop up lodge spanning two floors and keep warm under a toasty fire pit.

Christmas in Leicester Square

Slap bang in the middle of Leicester Square is the capital’s newest Christmas festival and it won’t disappoint.

You’ll find a traditional Christmas market to stock up on all your trinkets and treats as well as Bavarian-style wooden huts selling you warm cups of mulled wine and sweet treats as you walk around. Entertainment will come in the form of the traditional ‘spiegeltent’ that will show the famous spellbinding La Soirée circus show.

Tis the season to be merry, eat and shop, all of which you can do at this market. Browse the pretty chalets full of handmade wooden toys and intricately made decorations before tucking into a traditional German bratwurst or a toasty cup of glühwein. This year, they’ve added a beautiful Victorian carousel for both little ones and adults.
