As many of you know, Premier Inn supports the life-changing work of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSH). In 2012, we pledged to raise £7.5 million to help fund a new state of the art wing which will provide a family-friendly, technologically-advanced environment to bring greater comfort and dignity at a very difficult time for patients and their families.
We’ve been really busy raising money, thinking of fun and creative ways to fundraise and taking part in thousands of challenges and activities across the country. We’re now delighted to announce that we’ve reached the £6 million milestone - meaning we’re one step closer to reaching our overall goal of £7.5 million. This phenomenal achievement is all down to the fantastic fundraising efforts of our team and the incredible generosity of our guests and suppliers, who have kindly supported our charity partnership.
Amit Aggarwal, Corporate Partnerships Director, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said, “A massive thank you to everyone at Whitbread who has helped us to reach this amazing milestone in our partnership - we are incredibly grateful for your commitment, generosity and enthusiasm in supporting GOSH. Your ongoing support will make a huge difference to the children being treated at GOSH.”
A big thank you for helping patients like Eva
When Eva was eight, she had her first attack at school. The dinner lady on duty spotted her jugular vein pounding in her neck and luckily recognised that it was a sign of a heart condition. An ambulance was called and Eva was later admitted to GOSH for heart surgery. Her experience inspired her to start fundraising for the hospital, and she set her sights on completing Race for the Kids. Nine weeks after surgery, she bravely walked the 5k race. She has continued to fundraise and team members from a local London Premier Inn fundraised on her behalf to help her hit her target. Eva has now donated a very impressive £5,000 to GOSH.
National Charity Week
We’re thrilled that our latest National Charity Week helped to raise over £230,000. The week, which took place in October 2015, saw team members across the country supporting GOSH with lots of fun and creative Halloween inspired fundraising events such a Pumpkin Patch sweepstake, pumpkin carving competitions and an ‘I’m a Director, Get Me Out of Here!’ challenge. We’re already excited to start planning our next National Charity Week, which will be taking place this Easter. Thank you so much for your continued support and we look forward to updating you about our 2016 National Charity Week in due course.
