"Nightmare from start to finish"
we have just returned from a 2 night stay in Dundee Centre and it was a nightmare from start to finish.
We arrived just before 6pm on Saturday evening and were due to meet up with others in the hotel restaurant at 6pm. It had been a long, stressful drive in the dark. I parked in the car park beside the restaurant and proceeded to the reception desk. We decided to check in , sort parking and then go for dinner before unpacking the car and going to our room.
I found the parking somewhat confusing and asked at the desk. I explained EXACTLY where I parked, confirmed that was the hotel car park, asked if discount for blue badge, told no and directed to the pay screen inside reception. I paid £16 for 48hrs. I then queried this again at the desk as I received no ticket or receipt and was assured all was fine. The £16 was deducted from my account.
We then went for dinner and then proceeded to room 6 around 8pm. We were greeted with an over powering smell of feces when we opened the door. We returned to reception, explained the situation and were told to now go to Roon 309. This wasn't made up for 4 people but someone would be up shortly to sort this.
We were staying over as my children had a VERY early start the next morning and it was imperative they had an early night. We were surprised to see only one double bed but assumed some pull out beds were being brought up so we proceeded to unpack. By 840pm no one had appeared so I went back to reception. Was told that room 309 can't sleep 4 people. I was to return there and they would be up shortly with a solution. By 950pm no one had appeared so once again I went to reception where I spent the next hour trying to get the staff to come up with a solution. I was travelling with my 2 children and my elderly father and had booked a family room. They attempted to put me back into Room 6 which still had an overpowering smell of feces and now additionally chemical cleaners. No way we were sleeping there. By this point it is almost 1030pm. My children should have been in bed hours ago.
The final solution was 2 twin wet rooms. Not ideal as we had one suitcase. But we needed to sleep.
I had to return again to reception as no towels or toilet paper. Then around 1130pm I had to phone and ask the heating be turned on (control panel in room not working) as it was so cold I could see my breath. Hideous night where we were all exhausted. We spent the whole day of Sunday at our event and stayed again on the Sunday evening. As we left this morning, we got the nasty surprise of a parking ticket! The place we parked (and stayed the entire time) was NOT the hotel car park. Impossible to tell in the dark and I double and triple checked with your desk staff. The girl this morning said she would email your parking company and CC me in for a refund. Hasn't happened. So I paid £16 to park and now have a £50 parking fine. I had 2 exhausted children heading to their extortionate competition on Sunday morning due to the horrific night and the amount of arguing I had to do to keep the reception staff focused on dealing with our issue was unreal. I am seriously unhappy with the entire experience. We were offered a partial refund on the room but that was completely negated by the parking fine.

"Cleanliness disgusting"
To whom it may concern,
I had a booking with Dundee central Premier Inn from Thursday 15th - Sunday 18th January.
Ref- ACA7417390
Tracy Leiper.
The only word I can describe my room was disgusting!
On inspection I noticed lots of dust in the room and surfaces.
As I was out early every morning and not back until evening I thought well at least the beds clean…sadly that was not the case once I looked further into the room.
The mattress was absolutely disgusting!
I had been having treatments at another hotel and used their spa facilities and shower most days.
However on my last evening I went to use the shower in my room.
I couldn’t understand why the water was filling up the bath.
Only to discover it was due to the amount of gunk, hair and what looked like the plug hole rubber blocking water from draining.
I then decided to have a really deep look at my room and was absolutely shocked at the lack of cleanliness!
A newspaper found from 2019…just before COVID…shocking!
At this point I had to contact the manager.
Unfortunately they were unavailable and a lady Yolanda (deputy manager) came to my room to see my issues.
She was absolutely horrified, however is it not the case where management should be inspecting rooms for cleanliness, defects and a general care of duty?
If the room I stayed in was like this I believe it is a true reflection of the whole hotel at this time.
The corridors and staircases also required a good clean and hoover.
I could go on but I think the attached pictures say it all.
Many years ago I worked for Premier Inn in my local area and I understand that there is a time limit set to turn around rooms.
However we had strategies, checklists and deep cleaning procedures in place.
I have stayed in many Premier Inn hotels over the years but I will be thinking twice before booking again!
In this instance Premier cannot be more wrong!
My only positive is that all staff I spoke with were pleasant, thankfully!

"Post Festive Period Stay"
Took advantage of the Jan/Feb reduced room rate with breakfast thrown in. Staff at reception, and in the restaurant and bar were extremely friendly and eager to help. On arrival the desk clerk kindly found us a room with a walk in shower as my wife had recently contracted painful sciatica so a shower over a bath would have been DIFFICULT!! Breakfast was to a high standard and better than on our numerous previous visits. Self-service Barista coffee machine produced excellent results. Views across the Tay were sadly disappointing due to freezing fog. Our room was clean and tidy but the new mattresses are arguably less comfortable than the type they had as standard previously. Going back in February.
