The Mailbox

An array of aspirational stores, designer label and luxurious spas, make the Mailbox the most exclusive shopping destination in Birmingham.

Birmingham Citibase Mailbox

Built on the location of a railway goods yard, the Mailbox was originally the site of the Royal Mail's main sorting office for Birmingham (hence its name).
A £150 million redevelopment later, and the Mailbox as we know it was opened in 2000.The six floor building was immediately filled with the latest men’s and women’s designer fashions, exclusive eateries and buzzing bars.
Now home to the BBC, you can watch live radio and television recordings in the all-access public foyer.

Getting there

Whether you’re coming by bus, train, car or even boat, it’s easy to find your way to the Mailbox. If you're jetting in, jump on a train from Birmingham International to New Street Station and you’ll be enjoying a bit of retail therapy within 20 minutes.
For a more sedate way to travel, why not take a water tour to the Mailbox? Situated on the edge of the Birmingham Canal Network, you can take in the sights by boat before exploring what’s on offer in the shops.
