Cadbury World

Are you ready to uncover the magic of chocolate and enjoy a fascinating, fun-packed day out at Cadbury World?

History

In 1824, John Cadbury opened a grocer’s shop in Birmingham. Amongst other things, he sold his homemade cocoa and drinking chocolate. From these small beginnings, the Cadbury company grew and grew, expanding their products to include confectionery.

In 1878 the Cadbury factory was built in Bournville with a village for its workers. In the following years Cadbury went global, but its home remained in Birmingham. Tours of Bournville had always been popular but it was impossible to run a factory smoothly with thousands of visitors so a separate attraction, Cadbury World, was opened in 1990.

Getting there

Bournville was chosen for the Cadbury factory because of its great transport links. And things haven’t changed.

Getting there by canal

Once used to deliver cocoa and confectionery around the country, the Birmingham and Worcester canal passes through Bournville. If you’re arriving by narrow boat, Cadbury World is a 15-minute walk from the moorings.

Getting around

A visit to Cadbury World is not your average factory tour. Instead, you'll discover the magic of Cadbury confectionery as you journey through 14 amazing chocolatey zones.
