Metro Radio Arena

Whether you’re big on basketball or a super fan of strong man competitions, you’ll find a huge range of sporting events to choose from at the Metro Radio Arena. What will you see on your visit?

History

Since being opened by Torvill and Dean in 1995, the 11,000 seater arena has provided the city with a venue large enough for touring music acts and major sports. Previously known as the Newcastle Arena, over seven million people had attended an event at the venue by the time it was renamed as the Metro Radio Arena in 2004.

With a great reputation for sporting events, including ice hockey, basketball, tennis, darts, boxing, wrestling and strong man competitions, the Metro Radio Arena also hosts music events, all night dance parties and conventions.
