"Tolerable rather than pleasant"
We were given an accessible room (07) despite no access needs: everything at the wrong height. Corridors and room smelt musty: gave a seedy atmosphere and did not feel clean or fresh. Room was cold despite heating set to 22 degrees. No extra blankets so wore socks and extra layers to bed. Bed was made up with a sheet much too small so it didn't cover the mattress and did not tuck in, so came off in the night revealing stained mattress protector underneath. Kept awake by a loud fan/ac unit in the ceiling which was outside the bathroom (can't see the logic) and so couldn't shut the door on it, but didn't go off for 30 mins after bathroom light was switched off. Raised with reception who were not helpful, saying we just had to wait longer for it to go off. Meanwhile, since fan was outside the bathroom, mirror fogged up from the shower and paint was peeling. Good location and breakfast, and we slept better, minus 30 mins for the fan to go off, than expected given the above problems, but I would look for somewhere else to stay another time. I have had good experiences with Premier Inn elsewhere so this was very disappointing.
"An excellent place to stay and very good, helpful, attentive staff."
Central location, excellent for visiting the cathedral which was the main reason for our visit. Pleasant atmosphere in the building. Excellent car parking facilities. We stayed in a premier plus room and it was excellent and spotlessly clean. The hotel, although busy, was quiet. Excellent value for money. One particular employee stood out for her professional approach, her willingness to help, and the excellent way she treated and helped guests. Thank you Julie!!!!!
"Awful stay and won't be returning"
Rubbish stay at this facility. Landing door constantly banging outside my bedroom door, noisy air con no one on reception to raise issues with in the morning. Won't be staying here again. Lousy experience, it is now obvious why they removed the good night guarantee.
"Awful."
Awful. We were booked for three nights - our room had a very noisy air conditioning unit. The manager said they were aware of this, and had no other room we could use. She suggested that she’d turn it off on the main control - which she did. We were also told that we could turn the circuit off at the fuse board in the room!! With non opening windows, the room was hot and airless - impossible to sleep. The windows were running with condensation. Checked out early - couldn’t deal with another night in that room. It actually smelled ‘dank’ Apparently this is an ongoing problem according to the staff. No more Premier Inns for us!!
"Wonderful stay in Bury St Edmunds"
From our arrival, the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel was so accessible to the town centre. We especially enjoyed our breakfast, and the whole experience was enhanced by the lovely Julie who not only welcomed us with a cheery smile but talked us through the breakfast process. She was especially keen to help me with the vegetarian breakfast, going the extra mile to liaise with the chef to get what I needed. I cannot recommend the Premier Inn and Julie highly enough.
