Folkestone (Channel Tunnel) hotel

Room was like sleeping in a fan oven. An ineffective fan was simply blowing the already hot air round the room without cooling it. Totally unsuitable for sleeping and very uncomfortable when awake. I ended up soaking a towel and putting it over me to try to cool down. This hotel should be closed until rooms have been fitted with air conditioning. Very interesting that the foyer is beautifully cool and air conditned just to add insult to injury. Worst hotel room I have ever slept in. Will be taking this further with Premier Inn.

We stayed at the Folkstone Premier Inn during the recent heat wave and found the room to be unbearably hot. Whilst we were provided with fans, the room was bordering on dangerous in our opinion with these making no difference whatsoever to the temperature throughout the night. We had to use wet towels to lay on to get cool, and the heat and noise from the fans made sleep basically impossible, negating the stop over to get a good night sleep before driving in to France. The room and staff at the Premier Inn and pub where were are were pleasant and helpful, however the food at the pub is very basic and not very appealing when it arrives. Whilst I appreciate the heat is out of anyone’s control, a warning would have been helpful so that we could have looked for alternative accommodation which has air conditioning, as we were travelling with a 5 year old who found the night very difficult. It was actually cooler and seemingly air conditioned in all of the corridors which made us consider leaving our door open to get some air in which should not have had to be a consideration. The above is not a reason to not stay here during other times of the year and it is extremely convenient for the tunnel crossing, but I recommend avoiding during the extreme heat we are currently having if you was a good night sleep guaranteed.

Our room was extremely hot and they supplied a desk fan that just blew the hot air around, how is that supposed to help? We ended up going outside at 1am because it was cooler than inside, i personally do not recommend staying here.

This place, whilst it says it doesn’t have air conditioning, is dangerously hot at the moment and should be avoided. We had a family room and my daughter and I had to go and sit outside at 1am because we were uncomfortably hot and felt close to passing out - not great when you have to leave at 3:30am for the Tunnel. The windows barely open and the rooms are completely airless. They do put a fan in the rooms but it just circulates hot air and the swing mode was broken on the one we had so it didn’t cover the whole room. The restaurant next door is vile as well, waited ages for our food to come and when it did the lasagne was a bowl of lukewarm slop and my beef burger was bright red in the middle. When we complained about the burger, they cooked me a fresh one which was still cold when it was served! Thankfully they did take this off the bill but I could very well have eaten this without realising and had a terrible start to our family holiday! It’s worth noting that the restaurant is closing in September, and you can tell to be honest. I’m really sad for the staff of course but paying customers should at least be given fully cooked food even if the quality is a bit questionable. Overall this one is to be avoided in my opinion, sadly the last few stays at a Premier Inn haven’t been up to scratch so will likely avoid them going forward.
