Welwyn Garden City hotel

Terrible signage from main road, so not easy to spot, and former Beefeater at front all caged off, so not visually appealing. We arrived to find staff locked in a heated conversation outside the main entrance with an irate woman... not ideal! Very dismissive staff at reception, but check in was speedy. Room was OK, but scruffy. Scuffs and dents on paintwork, and there was a hole in my duvet cover. Bathroom also a bit tired, although it the room seem clean and was warm, and bed was comfortable. The corridors needed a good hoover, as they were pretty grotty. Breakfast was mixed. Staff were barely available and one waitress was glued to her phone. I had to ask her to fill up the juice as she was too busy texting. Juice was horrible longlife cheap stuff - fresh would have been much better. However, the cooked breakfast was nice and fresh and plentiful, so the chef saved the day.

An excellent stay. Very friendly staff. clean and comfortable room. The breakfast was good, it was kept replenished at all times. We would certainly visit again.

Arrived in the car park to be met by plies of rubbish, although I appreciate building works were underway it could have been managed better. The room was just a standard level of Prem Inn although be warned it is near a train line and you will be woken by them. Now the real issue!! The restaurant if you can call it that is not very inviting and more like a school canteen. The staff were clearly inexperienced and under staffed, after an unnacceptable wait the food arrived and it was all overdone and cold. This wasn't just an isolated incident as ny business colleagues food was also below standard and was left by all concerned My company picked up the tab but had I been paying I would have complained. Needless to say I won't be back

The receptionist was very kind and helpful, I was actually surprised by how approachable they were. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Upon arrival, found that booking was incorrect. There was no one around, so I checked in. The request for twin beds, was again, a mistake as we found a double bed. Only one towel, no toilet paper. Again, no one around. Bizarre. Breakfast staff were friendly and welcoming. Upon check out, no gesture or communication from the front desk. I hope this isn't a sign of the times! Parking - Nightmare. Lots of work going on so pray you get lucky.
