Winchester hotel

Had a lovely breakfast here. Ellena one of the members of staff was so accommodating making the breakfast even better.

As a premier inn hotel you get what you pay for. The check in process is average, the rooms were a little dated and could do with some love. We had booked 2 rooms at the same time as a family, and when we got there they were on different floors, which is no good when you have kids. However, when we went down to get some dinner we walked into an empty restaurant/bar as it was only 18:00. Within an instant we were asked my a member of staff if we had booked, and they stated they were busy tonight (as I watched the tumble weeds roll by). Said we never knew we had to book. With an aggressive attitude he said well you will have to wait until 18:45 until you can order food. We said that’s fine we can get drinks. We got a table and then for the next hour and a half we were not even spoken to, no menus, no offer of ordering, no service at all. We got our own drinks at the bar, and then finally left at 19:30 to get a deliveroo which was delivered. As we went to leave the single member of staff that they seemed to have on site asked if we were not eating, after me saying No as we have waited 90 minutes and had no service at all. He just went ok bye. Also at breakfast the £13.99 for unlimited food, was all it was worth, a lot of over done food. Shame as have some good experiences over the many premier hotels we have stayed at, but not this time.

A jewel in the crown Slightly out of centre but a great cheap car park plus an Uber is cheaper than most city centres… Great reception awaited and room allocated as requested… very clean and good decor…… no smelly shower curtain Breakfast busy but exceptionally managed and all the food was piping hot and very tasty……. great selection . In reflection as a regular hotel user this is my top Premier Inn for the full package including the price. Thanks By the way great city with good bars restaurants and entertainment See you again.

Excellent location just a 20 minute walk into Winchester, bit of a cardio back up hill. Excellent reception and left to room. Clean rooms as expected from Premier with kettle and very roomy shower room. Had a good nights sleep as complete silence! I did wake up and worry as I looked out on my car seeing it parked safely if I should have payed for parking! In the morning the excellent receptionist explained car park has number plate recognition and no worries I could pay for a ticket when I leave.

Purely an overnight stay so it ticked the box. However after a rather fraught journey to the hotel, due to overnight road closures, road works, etc. we arrived a bit later than anticipated only to be told that the adjoining restaurant was not serving food due to freezer problems!! As it was a Sunday night not much else open in Winchester! Premium room was tired looking, we were not offered the code to access the premium WiFi, which was included in our rate. Breakfast the following morning, at just before 9am looked sparse and picked over and no staff visible refreshing the buffet. So we declined. Overall we wouldn’t normally use a premier inn through choice but it was a last minute booking and central to where we need to be.
