Whitbread PLC, the UK’s largest hotel and restaurant group, has today announced that it will be creating a further 1000 jobs over the next financial year 2010/11 across its Premier Inn, restaurant and Costa Coffee businesses.
The roles have been created through the opening of new hotels, including Premier Inn hotels in Preston, Sunbury, Newport, Burgess Hill and Liverpool and Costa Coffee outlets in Newcastle, Bury St Edmunds, London, Whitstable, and Glasgow.
The roles include front of house, bar staff, reception management, housekeeping and baristas and will be made available through local Jobcentres. In March 2009, during the worst of the recession, Whitbread announced that it would create 1,000 new jobs and today it confirmed that it exceeded that target by creating 1,250 new jobs at its outlets across the UK during its 2009/10 financial year.
Alan Parker, Chief Executive of Whitbread PLC said: ‘We are delighted to be creating a further 1000 jobs across the UK this year as part of our ongoing expansion plans. We are confident that the opportunity for individuals created by the launch of Apprenticeship Scheme last year means that there has never been a better time to work for Whitbread.’
