"29°C Room, Dirty Rag Left Behind, and No Help From Staff"
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was poor from start to finish.
The biggest issue was the room temperature. During my stay, the room remained at around 29°C, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. I reported this to staff and requested a fan on arrival, but despite raising the issue, nothing was provided and no effective solution was offered. Being told after the fact that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning is not much comfort when you're trying to sleep in what felt like a greenhouse.
Cleanliness was also disappointing. Housekeeping left a dirty cleaning rag in my room, which immediately made me question the standards being applied. After finding this, I declined further room servicing as I no longer had confidence in the housekeeping.
To make matters worse, the room was booked for two guests but only one set of towels was provided. When paying for a double occupancy room, basic essentials for both guests should be available without having to ask.
I was also surprised to learn that room cleaning now appears to be on a request basis. If this is the policy, it should be made much clearer to guests at check-in. Combined with the housekeeping issue, it only added to the feeling that standards have slipped.
To Premier Inn's credit, they responded to my complaint afterwards and acknowledged the failings. However, that doesn't change the fact that I spent the stay in an uncomfortably hot room, with poor housekeeping standards and basic amenities missing.
Overall, this was not the level of comfort or service I expect from Premier Inn, and unfortunately I would think twice before staying at this hotel again.

"Air conditioning would be a welcome upgrade"
Room was clean, but suffered from the lack of air conditioning during a rare UK hot spell. Probably wouldn’t be an issue 50 weeks a year, but made for a fairly uncomfortable night.
Breakfast choice was good and consistent with experience at other Premier Inns during our trip.

"Breakfast standard was disappointing!"
Room and bathroom very good. Comfy bed.
Evening meal was pretty good, except the garlic mushrooms had been overfried.
Cooked breakfast was poor.

"A fantastic, reasonably priced stay close to lots of good amenities"
We stayed for four nights visiting the area to see family and attend a wedding. We were given a lovely family room on the ground floor. The hotel was spotlessly clean everywhere and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. It would really benefit from air conditioning of some sort, our room was around 26 degrees for pretty much the entire stay so we found spending time in the room a bit difficult but the hotel does provide a fan in the room and cooler bedding on request from Reception. I informed Reception before arrival that it was my son's birthday the day after we arrived and there was a little goodie bag and card in our room for him which we were all delighted with. The staff at breakfast all made us feel special by remembering the details of our trip i.e. they asked us if my son had a good birthday/if we had a nice day at the wedding etc. The food was all lovely at each breakfast. We had one evening meal in the hotel and the food was great. Our boys enjoyed using the softplay, a fantastic thing to have in a hotel!, whilst they waited for food and the member of staff running it was lovely. Both boys took a little tumble whilst in there and she took great care of them, let us know and cheered them up with a sticker! Thanks for a great stay! :)

"Not great but trying its best."
We were told by bookings this hotel had no rooms on the ground floor, no lift and no air con and no assessable rooms.
Not great but I can do stairs just slowly.
To their defence, not completely true, they do have ground floor rooms & they do have a lift.
However having asked when we booked for ground floor if possible and being told they don’t have them, we were on the 2nd floor with a little route March to our room but as there was a lift I did OK. We found out later the ground floor had been booked out but talking to a Mum & Daughter, way after we booked so not happy about that.
We bought a portable fan and that was a great plan it was fluffin hot.
Brewers fair connected to the hotel was of normal standard.
HOWEVER, due to the heat doors were propped open and they sadly appear to have a rat problem. They are semi rural so not really a complete surprise. We advised staff we had closed the door to the bar as we had watched and chased a rodent out of the door. The said they would let management know and to be fair is about all they can do on a Sunday night.
Staff were friendly but if this had been my first premier Inn, it would be my last.
